Yup, but those are plea deals and why the sentences are relatively shorter compared to trial verdicts.... 10 years is something you plea down to for murder.... Conviction by jury have significantly harsher sentences... this one did not

Do y'all not understand that everybody was saying she was go walk free and get no years. Then when she was found guilty they was saying she was go get no more than 3-5 years. 10 years no parole is better than both of those scenarios

She can file for an appeal and serve no jail time during the appeal process.

Because it had to been 11 years or more.

Thankfully that rule was changed in 2017. She has to stay in prison during the appeals process.

Well.... I know emotions are high.. I said from the start she would probably get 5-12... Reason being even though she was off duty, there is still this perception of “law of the land” and just good old fashioned white supremacy.. I knew there was no way she would get 25+ but I held out hope she would...

I know the family and many of us feel that man life was worth more. I somehow hope she dies in prison. But taking my emotions out, it’s time for Renee hall the DPD chief, the DA, and Jean’s lawyers to go after the DPD for a civil suit. This was a blatant cover up.

Sadly this case won’t move the needle and for EVERYONE who wanted justice in the sense, have a somewhat bitter taste... But still there has to be a precedent set better in forth to punish cops like regular citizens...

No black person would get only 10 years for killing a white person in his/her house. In fact many black people are on death row for that very act.

It's disgusting how biased the judicial system is. This woman was a known anti-black race soldier that openly posted on social media her disdain for black people and culture. Then "surprisingly" she ends up killing an unarmed black man in his own house. She should not only get life, but the DPD needs to be sued for 100 million for employing such a racist demon.

It's disgusting and I'm so sick of the open racism that goes on amongst police and the judicial system.
