I REALLY hope they pull it off from a competitive standpoint, but realistically speaking their ceiling is being as much of competitor to YouTube as Amazon Video is to Netflix

If they can directly get consumers to the best advertise product this is great. But the algorithms to do that and humans don't like being advertised to hell

the main gripe with internet ads is that they can be incredibly random.

people like us are only in the (maybe) top 20% of people who don't use search engines and ad blockers every time we want to go to our favorite sites. We just type the url or go to the bookmark.

Youtube is currently running a marketing model where they show an increased number of random ads to entice you to subscribe to the ad-free youtube red.

I was saying if amazon only showed non-prime members ads that closely correlated to their amazon buying history and the vid they're watching, then they'd be less inclined to hate the ads.

Hell, if they only showed a 10 second clip of prime benefits and the yearly price to non-prime amazon shoppers in exchange of ad free vids their numbers would skyrocket.



It's better than seeing feminine hygiene videos or cymbalta ads before you can watch '76 by Roc Marciano.
