Box office takes roughly 50 % of a movies gross...so if spider man made 92 million...the box office took roughly 46 million of that. Hollywood and the Box Office are two separate entities, Hollywood has to pay the box office to show films.

So let's say the movie itself cost 200 mil, and they spent another 200 mil on marketing, that means the movie has to make roughly 800 mil just for them to break even...

If Godzilla ends up being big then this movie might loose a ton of money...though I see they hedged their bets a little and got a 2 week head start on Godzilla...

I am sure that whatever the numbers are by the time X-Men comes out is what they will be...

I also doubt they really spent a total of 400 mil...especially Sony...they tend to do their movies as cheaply as possible

One of the reasons why Sony decided to reboot, was because they wanted to make cheaper Spider-Man films. The 2012 reboot cost over $230M and was the second most expensive film in the series :deadmanny:.

I can see 230 for the entire thing including marketing...I know they got Garfield and Emma Stone to do the movies on the cheap...

I still think Godzilla will have a lot to do with how much money Spider Man 2 will make cause I expect it to be pretty big internationally...if it is then Spider Man 2 will fade into oblivion...and it sure as hell will be forgotten once X men comes out.

Where are you getting these figures from?

The first Spider Man grossed $752 million worldwide, no way they spent $700 million on the sequel. The production budget was $200 million. And yeah they do grossly underreport their budgets but I still doubt they spent anywhere close to $700 million on this

I don't know breh. I enjoyed it. Wife enjoyed it.

People were clapping after the movie ended:yeshrug:
We'll see I guess. I liked the first one, but have absolutely no interest in seeing this one and none of my friends are either. These run of the mil superhero movies are starting to bore me.

That Seth Rogen comedy is coming out this week, depending on the size of Spider-Man's drop it could easily displace it. I don't think Godzilla will do as well as some predictions I've seen on other sites, especially in America, but Internationally it's going to heavily damage those legs. X-Men and that Disney Angelina Jolie film subsequently come out straight after Godzilla. This will be the least grossing Spider-Man movie in the states for sure, it hasn't opened well for a movie that's going to have a lot competition. Chinese will heavily boost them international numbers, however studios only get 25% of the gross :manny:.

The Neighbors movie is rated R isn't it? It's not the same demographic. It might do well but it won't take viewers away from Spider-Man. Godzilla is the next potential family going experience unless we count the Legend of Oz thing.. the Dorothy shyt, I've seen nothing on it so.... I can't gauge how well that will do.

The movie was very good in my opinion, better than what I expected. Sinister six will be awesome, just stay at the end of the movie of spiderman to see the ending credits scene, X
