See the problem with the people that are so quick to jump to the "defense" of lesbian/gay people is this notion you automatically fall into "bigot/homophobic" category by expressing that you're not comfortable with the act of homosexuality/lesbianism. Like its possible to not like the ACT of homosexuality or feel uncomfortable to be showering etc with people of that persuasion, that somehow it makes you this raging homo hater. That's like equating being a bigot against pedophiles, because you don't want to be around them or detest their thought process, but that is a accepted point of view because most people consider their proclivity to be reprehensible (rightfully so). But people are not willing to accept its possible to dislike homosexuality and at the same time are capable of seeing that they should be extended the same human rights as everyone else as long as their not harming anyone.

And I understand there is discomfort. But there is always that when the "norm" changes. I just think being more comfortable dressing around someone you don't know is gay then suddenly being uncomfortable if you find out they are gay is funny. Because nothing has literally changed other than how you perceive them perceiving you.

I also can't get on board with comparing not letting men and women change together because I don't think it's the same thing at all. You got men sexually harassing fully clothed women all the time, putting them in a locker room situation would be dangerous for women. Of course most men could handle it, but there would be a bunch of creeps staring and doing a bunch of shyt that would be considered crimes out on the street. If a gay man did that in a locker room, he would be just as shamed. Nobody is saying let homosexuals have free reign and let them go unchecked if they were making it uncomfortable for people. But if you're uncomfortable, that is your issue, not the person who makes you feel that way if they aren't doing anything overtly over the line.

Even though this sounds good on the surface and I want to say I agree with it, the problem is a sector of society wants to do away with gender roles, patriarchy etc. But at the same time doesnt want to extend that same line of thinking across gender lines etc. Like the example you used about how a woman in a locker room is viewed differently then the inverse. Mainly because men are perceived/expected to handle themselves, so if the same harassment situation was to transpire its not as objectionable if at all, because he's a man. Isn't that society having their cake and eating it too? Isn't that still ascribing to "ancient" ideal while holding onto them when its convenient?
