:francis: Why? He's been a train wreck.

I'm not a Knicks fan, but I was definitely a fan of the work Amare tried putting in and his desire to play well and get back on the court. Did you see those numbers he put up before Melo came there, while they were running his ass into the ground? he was getting 30 PPG with 9 boards a game and doing his best to carry that sorry ass knicks squad with felton as their second best player(tbf, it was probably felton's best year).

Without Amare there might be no Melo. He came to the Knicks when there was nothing there, no star and just some budding talent in W.Chandler/Gallo/etc and he made them relevant again and a team that Melo would actually want to come to. Ya it went downhill because of those knee issues and all that shyt, but it's not like he had any control of that and the real thing is that he wanted to win and he wanted to play hard. He wasn't just in it for the checks at any point even though he could have been, he did his best to come back and he did his best to make up for that shyt contract(that's more Dolan's fault than his since no one forced his hand there).

Nobody doubted his talent, drive and ability to put up numbers as the 27-year-old #1 option in his first year or so of that deal. The issue, which obviously came to fruition, was the fact that his knees were shot and he was essentially playing on borrowed time.

Dolan literally couldn't get insurance against Amare's contract because of his poor health prospects. One can argue that D'Antoni played him too much, but that really says it all.

Sadly for Lnicks fans, the Melo era will last a while :mjpls:
