electoral college, senators and representatives elect presidents, citizens elect senators and representatives, like i said on FB this morning, if you want someone in the white house that represents you and what you stand for you have to first make sure your senators and representatives represent you and what you stand for

On the other side of the "you should vote" committee, I'd also say that people should realize that voting is not the end all be all of everything, even with your local gov't.

Most people will stress voting, vote faithfully every election, but won't educate themselves on government processes/legislation, won't educate others, won't do community service, won't write to their representatives, won't go to them when they have problems, don't hold them accountable, etc. and just leave their power at a vote. That doesn't work either.

The Bi-partisanship we have in this country isn't cutting it, but it will continue because of a vast amount of un-educated rhetoric motivating the masses to keep splitting themselves 2 ways with platforms that aren't catered to them/shaming language. I think we hype up voting too much, because it's really the laziest way to give to participate in "bettering" the country, when there are many other things we aren't doing to even better our local communities and the people around us.

So if you did vote, that's cool. If you didn't, that's cool too (although there are many better reasons than the electoral college, not educated, etc.) But make sure you educate yourself and hold your representatives and state officials accountable. Make sure your donation to this country doesn't stop in or out a polling booth.
