Am I crazy for thinking Griselda better than The Lox?

It's disrespectful to even compare Griselda to a group like The Lox. Their album covers fire & all but that's it.

The thing is, Griselda been rapping since the early 2000s. I love Griselda, definitely not trying to hate but we have to be honest here. There’s a reason the Lox started rapping in 1992 and got signed in 1995. And there’s a reason Griselda started rapping in 2001 and didn’t start poppin until 2016. If they just started rapping 5 years ago, you’d have more of an argument about them not being able to duplicate the nostalgia. They were making music in an era the Lox were (2001-2007) where you could make classic moments that last the rest of time and they didn’t. They weren’t good enough to do it.

Can you say they were really rappers though? They're from the era, but these dudes were seasonal/part-time rappers at best and Benny wasn't rappin at all.

The LOX truly are the most overrated group though. They're thought highly of cause dudes fukks with their style..but their catalog doesn't match their status at all. In real time, people liked Money, Power, Respect, until the LOX came out and said they didn't fukk with it. Then people supported the let The LOX go movement, they drop We Are the Streets and it was still a dud. Actually Money, Power, Respect is a better album. DBlock was trash. Kiss is a 3 Mic (old Source rating) album maker...Styles is a 4-4.25 and Sheek can't rap, but makes tolerable music.

Jada and Styles best songs from their prime are better than the best Griselda tracks

Put em all on a John Blaze style track where they just spit over a dope beat. Jada and Styles gonna outshine em

It's no disrespect, it's just when it come to straight up rapping very few can hang with those two
I disagree. On a John Blaze track with all of them, Conway will perhaps be the standout.

I mean, The LOX got started on BAD BOY doing songs with Biggie, Puff, Mase and Jay and then went on a prime DMX led Ruff Ryders so idk understand how nikkas is gon make it seem like Griselda was put in a position to make a similar impact the LOX did lol. The LOX were lucky to have a network of artists that were popping WAY MORE then they were.

But as far as underground impact, definitely.
You could actually accredit that to them following Marci’s blueprint. The Cow literally led them to getting all the deals they got signed to in 2017. And yes, Griselda has songs or else we wouldn’t be having this discussion if they didn’t. It’s a reason Jada is considering having Gunn curate a project for him :mjlol:

lox didnt even make their biggest splash while with those crews at their height in 96-99. The lox became THE LOX when they formed d block and were bullying rappers on the mic in the early/mid 2000s.

Underground impact in 2015-2022 isnt what it was in 2005. Underground impact today means trendy white kids buying doubles of ya album to resell on ebay along with an limited tacky shirt. Im willing to bet a lot of spent a grip on no name djs mixtapes by the dozen to get that roc, d block, dipset, g unit freestyle.

Yall griselda fans keep bringing up so and so from the 90s wants to work with them and gives them props, yada 3x… but thats cause new rap is on to something else and everyone attempting to stay relevent anyway they can so they giving love. Griselda cant do anything for jadakiss that jada couldnt do himself.

Man these songs are cool but these are not LOX level gems. All about the Benjamin's and the biggie freestyle from funk flex vol 2 >> this.

LOX’s dipset versuz playlist would destroy this; with or without the live factor. Every song same type of beat, same flow, same bop on each song, same speed…

Griselda are the equivalents of the great groups lil mans. Infamous mobb >> griselda. 90% of the killa beez > griselda. Bully and j hood…. Ok wont go that far but lox def ice these dudes in so many categories.

Get at me when these guys can make a song that can play at a bbq/OUTSIDE and everyone loves it. Because the ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM is this; their INABILITY to make just ONE hit after releasing damn near 30 ALBUMS… is troubling.

Fab ain’t even on Jada level. nikkas Fab too cool for school to make an album like that. If Kiss got Alchemist and Harry Fraud to do his whole shyt it would shyt on anything Griselda could muster. Regardless imma keep it a stack. Griselda kinda one note. Aside from WSG. And he’s an acquired taste voice and rap wise. Which is why I don’t think this is a great comparison.
Why do you believe that?
Jada has had 20+ years to do something...and nothing.

What project does he have thats touching TT3 or the Griselda album?

Griselda has a ton of random tracks like this...
...I would put this joint (especially Benny's verse) against anything the Lox have put out the last 10 years

or this

You can cherrypick songs all day but you have to remember there's an entire rest of the album that you know you don't even fukk with.

Let's play a game: name a Lox project, group or solo, that you can play without skipping 5 tracks minimum.

Let’s play another game…post a Griselda song that the average nikka knows :mjlol:

Why yall gotta play the last ten years card?

griselda has to match lox first ten years first before we discredit lox last ten years. Thats how you do head ups; not cherry picking years to fit ya narrative. I understand… Its only way they got a chance. And GxFR definitely on a down swing so lets stop pretending they going to be here for another 20 dropping nothing but fire. They dont even drop straight fire in their prime….

If We Are The Streets is a classic album then everything is. lol

We Are The Streets was the Tri State Thriller at the time…nikkax in the neighborhood played that and you heard it coming from cars no question. From Philly to CT to NY/NJ

The average dude walking around couldn’t pick out any of these Griselda guys by voice much less song

I would put them up against the first 10 too.

The Lox have historically been a hot verse/mixtape group (Jada).
All of the albums have been lackluster.

I remember waiting for We Are The Streets...
...everybody was dissapointed.

Money, Power, Respect, Benjamin’s and Big Poppa put these nikkas on the map lol. You’ll See made nikkas pay attention and even still you underplaying how much of machine Bad Boy was at that time period, your bugging. X was the biggest artist in 98 right before when they went to Double R officially, THAT was their biggest splash. Griselda literally got to where they are off the strength of West, Conway and Daringer. The impact shyt is different because people consume music differently than they did in LOX’s era, nikkas actually bought shyt now shyt is streams and all that dumb shyt. And you bring up 2 freestyles with Biggie like nikkas cared about the LOX like that at the time BIG was the highlight lol. The hit shyt is irrelevant too tbh cause we’re talking about their projects. G Rap one of the best ever to pick up a mic how many hits does he have :jbhmm:? Does that make LL better?

Im not downplaying it at all.

The craig mack/ biggie badboy of 94/95 wasnt the LOX era of bad boy. When BIG was alive LOX had next until big died and they needed a main artist anr puff came on the scene and mase got his spot. LOX were the street rap backbone of bad boy. Acting like they got a freebie by being with them is a lie. They helped make bad boy what it was.

Same shyt with ruff ryders. Lox members on the biggest songs of x first album. X started falling off after album 3, eve had a lil run but from their the LOX took over.

And by 03 it was really just D block and they were more popular in that era than they ever were with all the radio appearances and freestyles, beefing with roc and biggest rapper in world/g unit, and their solos spawning real hits.

say its a diff era and people consume differently all ya want. Griselda lacks the ability to make a hit in todays market. Plenty of street rappers are doing so; so why cant they? Idk why… but its obviously an issue and one that frustrates them because they all complain about their status in the game not being recognized… thats cause noone recognizes the music.
