You can't speak out against white supremacy then praise two slave owners that openly championed white supremacy. That's how you know a lot of this bullshyt is just lip service to score political points.
They can't accept it. America was built on slavery, torture, death/murder and blood.
White people look at America's history with rose colored glasses. They romanticize the American Revolution, Civil War, Antebellum South etc.
They don't want to acknowledge the genocide of Native Americans, the torture of African slaves and further exploitation of African countries.
For them to acknowledge this stuff, sorta shatters their world view about their own past.
Think how insane you have to be to support a guy that owned slaves, had his 14 year old slave girl's bedroom next to his so he could fukk her at night. Had a whole family with her. 50 year old man fukking a 15 year old girl. That's the man they're trying to protect.
