It's not meaningless. Most of the mods can see the problem posters. Mods have posted in this very thread.

Example, I see the reports for the entire site, but I can't ban people.

It's not about choosing heightened passion over moderation.

We need either:

A. More than one mod with ban powers, preferably someone tenured for at least five years,
B. More mods per sub-forum,
C. Have some type of opt-in verification process, and the ability for mods to restrict subs/threads to verified users, or
