As a pure lyricist? Busta...outside of the commercial hits...he's on another level lyrically....don't believe me? Listen to "Cormega n Busta Rhymes 97"....or "The Oath" with Capone n nore

Body of work has to go to snoop tho..,his run from 91-95/96 is official

Both have great longevity. Busta’s the better “rapper” per say but the highs of Snoop’s musical involvement (Chronic, Doggystyle, Tha Last Meal, Tha Eastsidaz, 2001, etc.) are too great to be faded.

Californ-i-a by way of BK
:russ:

Better albums, more quotables, etc

Snoop got him man

"Now do I looooooove them hoes!"

HELL NOOOOOOOO!
The funny thing is I got Snoop over Busta but I think it’s super close. Like literally Doggystyle is what puts it over to me. I voted for Busta cause I felt bad at the lopsided ness. I think @wizworld hit the nail on the head

As I combine all the juices from the mind
Heel up, wheel up, bring it back, come rewind
Powerful impact - boom! - from the cannon
Not bragging, try to read my mind just imagine
Vo-cab-u-lary's necessary
When digging into my library
Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!
Eating Ital Stew like the one Peter Tosh
Uh! Uh! Uh! All over the track man
Uh! Pardon me, uh! As I come back
As I did it yo I heard you beg your pardon
When I travel through the town I roll with the squadron
RRRRRROAW RRRRRRROAW like a dungeon dragon
Change your little drawers cause your pants are sagging
Try to step to this, I will twist you in a turban
And have you smelling ripe like some old stale urine
Chickity-choco, the chocolate chicken
The real cock diesel, buttcheeks they were kicking
Yo, bust it out before the Busta bust another rhyme
The rhythm is in sync (Uh!) the rhymes are on time (time!)
Ripping up this dance just like a radio
Observe the vibe and check out the scenario
I bet you could drop that verse in a club today and people would lose it

Busta really fell off even as a live performer. Peep his, Black Thought's and Joell Ortiz's live performance on Jimmy Fallon's show from early 2017 for proof.

Granted, both Black Thought and Joell have been better mc's for like the last 10 years, but ppl always been saying Busta is great live and that really didnt seem like it judging by the live TV performance

Yes and they weren't good but his first 6 were either great (The Coming, Disaster Strikes, ELE) or good (It Ain't Safe, Genesis), only ones that were just average were Big Bang and Anarchy imo.

Snoop had 1 classic, 2 solid projects (Blue Carpet Treatment and Doggfather) and a lot of mediocre/trash shyt

Doggystyle does hold a lot of weight though because it's a top 10 rap album. Arguably top 5.
Snoop has no zero weak albums. All range from Solid to great.
No busta album ever meant anything.

Doggystyle ----------> over any busta album.

Busta's entire discography --------> over snoops.

Busta was more consistent with it over the years, good to great albums, good to great verses and features. But Snoops work on Chronic, Doggystyle and 2001 pretty much outweigh anything Busta has done. I'll probably catch slack for this, but damn near everything Snoop did after Doggystyle was meh, varying from good to bad.

Both got hits, i don't know where people are coming off saying busta has more or snoop has more. They both might have the same or Busta might honestly have a few more.

But I gotta go with Snoop just off his legendary run in the early 90's
east coast bias alert. Love busta but none of his albums personify the years they were out. He's known for his singles like fugees and Naughty by nature

Interesting. I wasn't necessarily looking at dropping an album as the measuring bar of longevity. I was just thinking about being able to still make music that is relevant to the masses. Doesn't necessarily have to be an album. But I hear you
Busta hasnt been relevant in a very long time

I'll give the real reason why this debate will turn out lopsided in Snoop's favor.

Snoop seems cool as hell, and can do some clown shyt and still be respected afterwards.

Busta seems like a douche, and even if you love his music you probably don't respect him 100%
. Despite his accomplishments, I've never felt like celebrating Busta in any way, shape or form, I just don't like his aura.

A lot of people are trying to downplay Busta's discography & level of influence, when in reality the problem is he's just not nearly as likable as Snoop. Even on Busta's best day he's looked at as somewhat of a novelty.
Naw,i respect busta the same as i have over the past 25 + years. He just cant fukk with snoop at all.
