I feel like we’re having the wrong discussions here. Talking about the talent is great but as we’ve seen in WWE, talent can only take you so far. Who is creative in this promotion? Who are they reaching out to?

Agreed. Talent is out there, but they need the right talent too. There's a lot of talented guys out there but not a lot of guys who are convincing characters. Being a successful character requires more than an entrance IMO. A lot of guys are interesting in the ring, not interesting outside of it.

I'm assuming the creative is just Cody and the Bucks...possibly Jericho. But I don't trust having JR in creative, after listening to his podcasts. Too many references to Bill Watts. He just seems out of touch to me.

TBH, I think these guys try hard, but their YouTube videos just aren't that interesting to me. I just saw the video that Kenny pitched to NJPW for Wrestle Kingdom and it kinda sucked IMO. I hope they can step it up here

My guess is that this will be the biggest disconnect with AEW for some people - probably myself included - if Being the Elite and All In showed us something is that Cody and the Bucks know how to cater to their fan base by doing stuff that another group of fans find either corny, "too indy", or just plain uninteresting. I don't see why they would go away from that considering the success they've had already with their current "formula" and that it was the reason All In was a such a hit and pretty much opened the doors for them to do create their own promotion.

I'd love for them to give Excalibur a creative spot because he not only knows how to scout and get talent, but when he has time to build something, he normally is able to create a compelling angle that has a healthy mix of more traditional wrestling and current indy/online/meme culture fukkery.

I sincerely hope they knock this shyt out of the park but I don't expect their product to cater to me.

Joey Janella's entire thing is just booking off the wall random as hell matches every few months. There's no way he'd be able to sustain his shyt on a weekly or even monthly basis.

He's also fukking terrible as a talent.

Janela knows how to promote absolute bullshyt, fukkery and/or garbage wrestling and be successful at it. He also knows how to promote shyt in social media and do quality production with zero financial backing. He's also been able to form important connections by being a nobody (he's a good carny). Besides, he's pretty in tune with the audience Cody and the Bucks cater to.

He's the kind of guy that will be cheap and could do the type of compelling/of the wall shyt that can create a spark, Specially if he has financial backing and a good roster.

I don't like him as a wrestler either, but that audience does, so who cares.

Yeap he's a niche audience of a niche audience already in wrestling fans. I don't understand at all what's so great about booking washed wrestlers from the 90s and trash wrestling.
