is cranston gonna be nominated this year for last years season 5 and then next year for this season? meaning he could end up with 5 best actor awards?

I hope so but I honestly have no idea. But at the very least he should win an Emmy for the second half of season 5, without question. I'm thoroughly convinced after watching this episode. I would like for him to win last year's season 5 if that is the case.

2. Gus mentions Augusto Pinochet, who was the dictator of Chile in 1986. '86 is the year Reagan and the U.S. government asked Pinochet to step down.

You might wonder :wtf: "what's the connection?"

Augusto Pinochet was a monster. During his reign thousands of people were killed and tortured. But more to the point he had super labs built that would create color variant versions of common drugs. For example they created a black colored cocaine that was harder for DEA agents to track.

Pinochet 'sold cocaine to Europe and US' | World news | The Guardian

Does that sound familiar? Gus worked for Pinochet until around '86, got the super lab idea from him, hired a chemist (Max) that the cartel killed, and since then he's been trying to get a Pinochet style super lab up and running. Then he meets Gale/Walt and makes it happen, with the blue meth.

Fred.

I had a feeling it was like this.

I missed the "Grand Generalissimo" line, but I knew the 1986 shyt so I figured that Gus was either working for the Pinochet government, or a communist insurgent.

I didn't know about the colored drugs, which confirms suspicions I already head....but I was hoping light would be shed vis a vis a flashback or something. Also, I'd like to know how he got involved w/Madrigal. Apart from "Pinochet sold drugs to Europe."

Had to calm down a bit, lol. This episode hands down is the best I've seen of Breaking Bad. You could just feel the emotion pouring out of these characters as the events are unfolding right before their very eyes. You see the family just completely dissolving, which was masterfully done by the cast of this show. Man, this is some high level acting here and we haven't even reached the climax yet. I'm pretty anxious yet a little sad as its drawing to a close.
