She was born in the Bronx, to a dad who was born in the Bronx, lived in an apartment in Parkchester in the Bronx before her family moved to Yorkstown.

She was definitely middle-class, not rich.

She went to Yorktown High, that's a public school. And they some small school that hasn't produced any other politicians so not exactly sure how she was "groomed" for politics there.

Her dad, who was the main wage-earner, died when she was still a teenager.

She went to BU in 2007-2011, she kept working as a bartender while also doing community organizing/politics/publishing on the side all the way up until 2017.
