Bust or no bust it doesn't really matter....he's stuck in basketball purgatory for the immediate future. Not even Wemby could make it work on the Bullets.
While you are right about purgatory since 1980. There’s reason to hope.

Bullets have a new regime with Michael Winger and Will Dawkins. They just got here in June 2023.

Bradley Beal’s contract isn’t on the books along with that no trade clause. They didn’t give up any assets to get off of it.

Will Dawkins’ draft picks all can play basketball. Bilal Coulibaly, Tristan Vukvecic, Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington, Kyshawn George all can play. How good they become is up to them.

Brian Keefe may not be the long term coach but he is well respected around the league for player development. He was in Seattle and OKC with Durant, Westbrook, Harden who all speak glowingly about him.

It took Ted Leonsis a staggering 13 years to shift course. But he finally did and is letting basketball people work uninterrupted.

Ted’s focus is on his welfare queen tour of stadium building. He didn’t get his Virginia arena but he got DC to buy Cap One Arena, DC to put $500M in renovations (with another $300M coming from his pockets).

The timeline is clear. They expect to be competitive in 2027 when the arena is renovated.

people are so impatient they want the first overall pick to become an all star first season

sarr and the other first pick on the hawks are playing like rookies. they both have showed major improvement since the start of the season

Sarr needs to shoot more in the paint and raise his shooting percentage. He also needs to become a better handler of the ball on the move and on the catch. But the flashes are bright.

Plus they added Middleton & Marcus Smart for some much needed vet leadership and they're competing in every game now.
Much better veterans to have. Kuzma was giving bad energy. Hopefully both Middleton and Smart are around to start next season and we can flip one or both at the deadline.
