Several independent wrestlers are close to signing contracts with
NXT UK, Inside The Ropes can confirm.
We reported earlier this week how NXT UK talent
had arrived at the UK Performance Centre for the commencement of a three-week training session prior to the next set of tapings at BT Sport Studios. Sources have now indicated that multiple talents are in London for WWE’s latest round of tapings, with the intention of WWE taking a closer look at them ahead of any potential signing.
One star who we’re told isn’t at the camp, but who has signed with the company is former World of Sport and Love Island star Adam Maxted. The Irishman is an incredibly powerful – yet athletic – talent who stands at 6ft3. Maxted has worked with several prominent companies in the UK, including Insane Championship Wrestling.
Another name we’re told is close to signing is Sha Samuels. Samuels was actually offered a WWE contract back in January – but the move wasn’t finalised at the time due to injury.
Aleah James is another talent mentioned to ITR. James was present at the last round of tapings, and is present at WWE’s three-week training camp.
The final two names we’ve been told are present at the camp are Scottish star Molly Spartan, who is in a relationship with current NXT UK Tag Team Champion Wolfgang, and Tony Gill – formerly known as IMPACT Wrestling star Gursinder Singh.
We’re told another thus-far unnamed, but prominent, talent from the UK indie scene has also signed and is in attendance at the camp. WWE are also said to be looking at bringing in additional referees for the brand, with Rich Swift one name confirmed as having signed.
NXT UK has been running from BT Sport Studios in London since its return, with talents residing in hotels for the duration of the tapings. Inside The Ropes has also been told that talents have been COVID tested today, and now must remain inside their hotel rooms until those tests are returned tomorrow evening.
