Yeah, that first beat was ill. Haven't heard Drake over something that dope in awhile. I'm all for beat switches during songs but that 2nd beat better be nice as fukk or else you lose me, and the 2nd beat for sicko is zzzzzz to me.... hopefully a demo version of sicko over just the first beat leaks.

Surprised at how many people calling this average. Maybe its because Im approaching this from a technical/sonic standpoint (i recognize Travis more as a composer/producer than “rapper”) but I cant think of many albums sonically better I’ve heard this year.

How many of these tracks did he produce? He knows how to flow, but without substance it's nothing more than bubblegum party music. It feels like these beats are being wasted on him when he keeps making shallow ass music. Plus cacs have been hyping this up on social media for months so we all expected better.

Carti post awful is essentially an adlib rapper (huh what yuh ooh every 3 seconds) with an amazing ear for beats.

The beats on Astroworld are at the level of die lit if not better, plus Travis actually RAPS. About nothing, but still rapping.

He does the beats justice imo, just like a Playboi Carti. They're not lyrically amazing but they play with effects, bring the correct feeling to go along with the beat, have the right flow for the beat, the correct delivery and all that makes it dope. I used to be like a rapreviews dude that scored albums by a weighted mean of lyrics and beats, but then I started appreciating that rap and music in general is so much more diverse than that.

I dont follow his scene like that so I can see people being underwhelmed due to Hype (I came in with Zero buzz outside of me having listened to his prior albums in the past).

IMO Travis should just do MBTDF type albums where he has a feature on every track and he just plays a Jermaine Dupri type position.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want no lyricle miracle shyt on these beats, and I’m all for vocalising on this type of production but Travis is just wack to me, he dosnt say shyt interesting to me, plus I fukking hate heavily auto tuned music.
