Imma do all genres and unfortunately, when including every genre, most good rap albums that dropped this year are nowhere to be seen. Rappers really need to step up when creating projects and music in general.

After Gnx, the clear second is Tyler The Creator. I usually don't like his music but he's the only other rapper that came with a 9.5 or 10/10 joint

Highly disagree, glad you like these albums, like I do, but to me only 2 rap albums this year are candidates for AOTY, and thats Kendrick and Tyler...other mcees made some cool albums but it lacks in many departments

No, and its funny buddy compared them to mixtapes when GNX was confused for one when it dropped.

He raps over two super well known untouched samples like a early 50 cent tape.

This has been the theme throughout their careers.

For that first 3-4 album TDE run among them, they always made better albums that were overshadowed by Kendricks popularity because he signed with Dre.

GNX and Alligator Bites Never Heal are by far my favs this year.

Pete Rock & Common 3rd spot.

Probably giving GNX the edge over them as I didn't see any mistep on that album. Brilliant.

They were overshadowed because Kendrick simply made much better albums. And Kendrick was already getting way more acclaim in the underground before even signing to Dre.
