OK fans...yall bringing back most of your squad next season? If so you gotta think they're a favorite to make the playoff again right. Only team that could knock any of the top 4 out is OSU, and we don't know how the new coach transition will go yet.

This definitely creates some interesting story lines. OK v AL, or even OK v Clemson would be very interesting.

Seems like a weird pairing stylistically.

It really isn't and Lincoln Riley can adapt to his talent provided that said talent is competent.

The closest comparisons from OU's QB history are:

Paul Thompson

and Blake Bell

Pardon the cheesy music!

Paul Thompson being the closer of the two. The question will be: Is Jalen Hurts closer to a Paul Thompson or Blake Bell. If Hurts is closer to Thompson, then the OU/Hurts marriage will work. If he's closer to Blake Bell then OU will have a long season and Hurts will become pretty unpopular very quickly. As beloved as Blake Bell was, he was eventually moved because he couldn't deliver balls down the field with accuracy. If Blake Bell got into 3rd and 7+ yard situations, Blake Bell would not convert most of the time. Bell had decent receivers, including Sterling Shepard.

Hurts is gonna have CeDarian Lamb, Charleston Rambo and Grant Calcaterra... more than enough help.

What I hope happens is that the defense takes enough of a leap forward that the offense will only have to score 25-30ppg, taking unnecessary pressure off Hurts to have to win the game.

Welcome to Oklahoma, Jalen Hurts!!!!

I'm very familiar with the OU program. A top tier program like OU should only have NFL quality QB's, which Thompson and Bell were not.

At least Jalen comes in as winner.

College coaches are supposed to develop and coach up their talent as much as possible, but at the end of the day, the onus will be on Hurts to prove that he can: beat out Tanner Mordecai for the starting job; impress NFL scouts enough to get serious looks. Hurts will be in a system that will allow him to showcase his throwing ability and demonstrate his mental capacity in running an a high-powered offense. The rest is up to him.

Lincoln Riley did his job in selling a dream. Even though he did that, Riley COULD turn Hurts into a draftable NFL QB. He has done it up to this point with Baker Mayfield and soon-to-be drafted Kyler Murray.

He had more time with Mayfield and Murray.

As you stated, it's all on Hurts to win the job. I just felt it was an odd pairing stylistically. Hopefully everything works out.

Top 4
jalen hurts now looks like a first round qb
He has size at 6'2 219
He doesn't make mistakes
he's now accurate i saw him zip passes yesterday and lob when needed
He's so dangerous with his feet dude could prob be a rb lining up in the backfield and get 1,000 yards how his vision is

Top 4
Whoa big fella slow down now :whoa:
He’s shown improvement but anybody could look good against the bad defenses he’s gone against :unimpressed:

hes played in the same system as the past two number 1 picks.
