We asked this before. The consensus seemed to be it's related to his upcoming conference. The timing is there, but it seems like a stretch. I think something deeper was at play. Then again, maybe he just pissed somebody off, and it's not related to anything else

In order to get immunity, al would have had to get paperwork and that would prove he worked for the FBI on many cases, which all we see is one case, since his informant info would be easily traced. He would also most likely have to be a witness at trials. Where are these trial statements?. The government always deal in paperwork dumbass. You watch too many movies.
