Al Sharpton? The same guy that supported minimum sentencing and the war on drugs? The dead beat dad? The con man and attention whore? This the dude you appreciate? He does good but he is to far gone to be a black leader. The only man I could see that could pull us together in a push for action is Obama after he gets out of office. Could you imagine him going to the Chi and organizing a major stop the violence campaign?... is would be a snow ball effect to hit hard on the other issues affecting black America... but we all know Barry to bytch made for that action

I don't see why people keep talking about marching or campaigning against the violence in chicago as if that is going to change ANYTHING. You can have mlk go into chicago 100,000 strong and people would probably get killed that weekend. If you want to bend the curve of violence in chicago that means restricting gun laws in this country. It means pouring more education and job training in poorer neighborhoods. But try getting politicians, especially white and republican politicians to focus on the poorer communities of the likes of chicago. Most politicians with power to do anything in chicago would rather just leave them to kill each other.
