Kathy Duva and Main Events sued him last year under the same antitrust and Muhammad Ali act. She ended up dropping it though, since her money aint long like TR's and GB's:wow:

I wonder if there was more to that too though. I agree her money wasn't long, but I almost get the feeling Hopkins was sacrificed to appease her. Cuz her original lawsuit included GB as well, didn't it? I can't recall, but Hopkins took the fall in place of Adonis, and it pacified her. Several months later Haymon and company bounced in a manner that indicated Espinoza didn't see coming. Showtime and CBS are one, so one would think he had some knowledge, but he came off a bit oblivious. Then GB made their play at Schaefer, and we know how the rest of story panned out. There's some hidden timelines with significant moves made that we're not privy to, that I wish we had knowledge of.

You're right.

Main Events drops lawsuit vs. Golden Boy, Showtime, Al Haymon

Totowa, NJ: Having achieved its goal of making a light heavyweight unification fight for Sergey Kovalev, Main Events filed paperwork in the Southern District of New York today formally dropping their lawsuit against Groupe Yvon Michel, Inc., Yvon Michel, Adonis Stevenson, Al Haymon, Showtime, Golden Boy Promotions, Inc., and Richard Schaefer.

With the announcement of the upcoming unification bout between WBO Light Heavyweight Champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KOs) and WBA/IBF Light Heavyweight Champion Bernard “The Alien” Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KOs), Main Events succeeded in obtaining the result it sought for Kovalev.

Main Events filed the lawsuit in April after Groupe Yvon Michel and Stevenson failed to honor an agreement for a scheduled bout between Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev and WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (24-1, 20 KOs). Now that Kovalev is scheduled for a unification bout with Hopkins, Main Events decided to drop the suit without prejudice, retaining the right to reinstate the litigation in the event the fight between Hopkins and Kovalev does not proceed as scheduled.

Main Events’ CEO Kathy Duva said, “The purpose of the lawsuit was to secure a unification bout for Sergey and allow him to face the top competition in the light heavyweight division. By signing on with Hopkins and Golden Boy Promotions for a three-title unification bout, Main Events secured the big fight that Sergey wanted. We no longer have damages, so we will not proceed with the litigation at this time.”

i heard that bytch stole money from kkkov:ohhh::deadmanny:

she take all his money ....that boi gonna leave for haymon maybe:bryan:

Sergey Kovalev will be left with only a quarter of his purse from his emphatic victory over legend Bernard Hopkins last month.
The Russian unified the WBO, IBF and WBA light-heavyweight titles with a one-sided win over Hopkins in Atlantic City.
But after tax and payments to his trainer and manager, Kovalev will be left with $125,000 of his $500,000 purse.

Haymon is gonna be ass out when it comes to defending himself against charges of violating the Ali Act but the rest of the complaints that Arum/Top Rank is leveling are weak.

That lawsuit was well written, add to the fact one of the top law firms in Los Angeles filed the complaint.

So at the end of the day AL is just a advisor for the fighters right?... And in the Chavez pic it shows AL paying him, doing so violates the Ali act... Is that correct?

Yes.

I'm interested in this, as Al Haymon is quite obviously violating the Ali act, it all depends on how airtight their plan was when they set it in motion with all the dummy promoters under the umbrella.

Expect this to be dropped once Al finally decides to say yes and make these fights happen. I love Haymon but don't tell the man yes then completely act like you 2 never talked. Arum is nobody to manipulate and play with. Just make the fights happen and this will be dropped. The suit is BS anyway but at least he got the attention he's always wanted now.

LOS ANGELES -- Top Rank, Inc., the nation's premier boxing promotion company, today filed a federal antitrust lawsuit seeking more than $100 million in damages and an injunction to stop the predatory practices of concert promoter-turned-boxing manager Al Haymon and the investment firm Waddell & Reed.

"Al Haymon and Waddell & Reed are engaged in a sophisticated scheme to gain control of the boxing industry,'' said Daniel Petrocelli, lead attorney for Top Rank and one of the nation's top trial lawyers.

"As the lawsuit explains in detail, they are violating federal law, defying state regulators and absorbing significant short-term losses to drive legitimate operators out of the business."

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court of Los Angeles by global law firm O'Melveny & Myers, details an expansive illegal scheme allegedly being perpetrated by Haymon and Waddell & Reed including:

Simultaneously managing boxers and promoting fights in violation of the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act passed by Congress in 2000 to protect fighters;

Forbidding boxers under contract to Haymon from being promoted by Top Rank and other promoters;

Paying boxers not to spar with fighters promoted by Top Rank;

Refusing to permit boxers to fight others not controlled by Haymon;

Blocking Top Rank and other promoters from television opportunities;

Preventing Top Rank and other promoters from access to major venues.

According to the complaint, Kansas City-based investment group Waddell & Reed has committed more than $400 million to these efforts and works closely with Haymon in executing the illegal plan.

Haymon works with over 200 fighters and his Premier Boxing Champions series has purchased time on NBC, CBS, ABC, ESPN, Spike TV and Fox Sports 1.

“In order to stifle legitimate promoters from competing against PBC, Haymon has obtained exclusivity commitments from broadcasters. Between these predatory ‘payola’ payments and the expenses of promoting each televised match, Haymon and Waddell & Reed are operating at a significant short-term loss in the millions of dollars,” the lawsuit wrote.

Top Rank is seeking more scrutiny from regulators.

Just this week, the company controlled by Haymon and Waddell & Reed was publicly criticized for illegally sabotaging competitors' efforts to secure venues in California. The lawsuit notes that in April 2015 the Association of Boxing Commissions asked U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch to initiate a DOJ investigation into the predatory practices of Haymon and Waddell & Reed. The President of the World Boxing Organization, Francisco "Paco'' Valcárcel, applauded the request.

"For decades, the boxing business earned a poor reputation because of some unsavory characters,'' Petrocelli said.

"Congress stepped in and enacted laws to clean up the industry. Top Rank is trying to ensure that Al Haymon and Waddell play by the same rules as everyone else.''

A similar lawsuit was filed earlier this year against Al Haymon and his financial backers, by Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.
