I did tech support, wrote guides for the web site, beta tested unreleased products, dealt with artists and producer issues hands on, and dealt with reviewers for magazines and websites etc.

The old MPC's are there so if someone has a question, like say a Wyclef, or an engineer for Dre etc. then we have one on hand to walk them through what to do.

Why'd you leave??? :mjcry:

I would go to my grave working there :ohlawd:
Two good friends I worked with passed away, the company was getting corporate.

The guy who hired me, my original boss, got laid off so the guy below him could do his job for a lower salary. The guy who replaced him was much more of a stiff and suck up.

So a year after he gets laid off we get news he took his life with a shotgun in his backyard. His girl checked his computer and the file creation date on a suicide note was from the day he got laid off, it was his whole life.

The way the company handled this bothered me, and the whole vibe changed across the building.

I had another good friend in tech support going through some personal issues ended up taking his own life semi-accidentally in this same year.

It's hard to work in a room that's been takin over by corporate interests, pay freezes, and no concern for product quality or the customers.

It's also hard to work in a room with the ghosts of your good friends :mjcry:

So after a few other last straw moments I decided to part ways with the company.

Damn breh . What were your best memories working there? U meet any famous people and help them out?
Yea I wrote a guide for Wyclef, helped Em and Dres assistant, helped Timbaland, got guitar pedals to AC DC, I used to argue with an ex Wu producer that was beefing with RZA every other day :laff:

Beefed with Just Blaze over the MPC5000 too. on MPC Forums and through the company :laff:

I forget dude's name, he is literally nuts but he produced a couple classic records :wtf:

I used to not understand how he could know so little about an MPC but have produced those records.

Lemme do some research I forget dudes name, I'll try and think of some other stories too, been a couple years.

so what is the best mpc...and why
If you got the time to learn it, ultimately the MPC4000 is the most packed with features, and sound quality etc.

The keygroups feature is very in depth, and sampling and using sound modules is generally on another level compared to the others.

Some people like to throw around that there is a better swing on the 60 and the 3000, but there is also extreme memory limitations.

The reality is the clocking crystals in the old machines were essentially 'off' by a little so people think those machines have a more unique swing to them when quantize is used.

But we did a few tests on the millisecond differences and it really was negligible compared to the newer MPCs.

Me personally I just keep an MPC1000 around to have one but I mostly use a MIDI keyboard and Logic Pro in box now.

They each have their ups and downs but I'd pick the 4000 if I had too.

Anyone remember a Wu producer that did a couple early records for Wu but ended up having issues with RZA and was borderline nuts?
