Ranking AJ Lee against WWE'S Greatest Ever Divas

The WWE's Divas division is in a particularly bizarre place at this moment in time. Whereas sometimes you can have a clutch of women who are on the same level at the top of the division—but aren't particularly inspiring—we are almost presented with the polar opposite at this moment in time.
There is a distinct lack of star talent in the division—except for one woman.
AJ Lee has been champion of the division since June last year, but in all reality, she has been the shining light out of all the Divas for much longer.
Nobody has come close to being a realistic contender for Lee's Divas Championship—as much as the WWE have tried to portray the likes of Kaitlyn, Naomi and Brie Bella as potential champions. But only AJ has the full package when it comes to being considered as one of the best Divas of modern times, without a doubt.
First of all, take her in-ring ability. That could be perhaps best summed up by her stunning submission maneuver, the "Black Widow." It's a remarkable move that you couldn't see any of the current crop around Lee being able to pull off, perhaps with the exception of Natalya.
She's technically brilliant, and possesses much of the talent that some of the greatest women wrestlers of all time—the likes of Lita and Trish Stratus—had. That on her own would set her out as one of the finest-ever Divas of all time, but there is so much more to her.
There are not many Divas who can work a crowd with a microphone. Stratus—despite a rather horrible first-ever promo with the company—was one of the best, and Sunny was another who grabbed the attention of many when she spoke.
Lee proved exactly what she can do with a microphone in her hand with her self-proclaimed "Pipe Bombshell" (in homage to CM Punk's infamous promo of 2011). She let loose on the stars of
Total Divas, telling them exactly what she thought of them in a way that endeared herself to many.
The words she uttered were, in essence, what differentiates her from the rest of the WWE Divas division. She is not a regular Diva with an image built around what she looks like, coupled with a pretty flimsy repertoire of skills. She is a Diva from another planet compared to the rest of the current crop, and that is no bad thing.
Her image is so unique that she has become the most recognizable women's competitor in years. Not since the halcyon days of Lita vs. Trish Stratus have we had a woman on the roster who is as talented as Lee is in all aspects of her performance.
She has aligned herself with plenty of guys who have had differing levels of success in the past—Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and Big E to name but three. If she ever aligns with another male wrestler in the future, they would do well to consider themselves lucky. The fact she was chosen to be so influential in Daniel Bryan's record loss at WrestleMania a few years back indicates just how highly she is regarded by the WWE.
Whilst the WWE isn't blessed with a brilliant Divas division at the present moment, they have one of the very best of all time with AJ Lee. She will truly go down as one of the most influential women wrestlers in the company's history.
