A few of the guys were Puerto Rican, Dominicans and Trinidadian. A lot of the guys other island cats like Jamaicans, Barbadians and a lot AAs. This was NY business, a lot of dumb people seem to think that the demographic mix and relations are the same everywhere

What early Hip hop pioneers from 73-77 were Puerto Rican or Dominican?

I'm not a specialist in Latin Americans and don't aim to be but wikipedia and Google is your friend if you are interest. For starts though, some are Dj Magic, Disco Wiz and Whipper Whip.

73-77 Disco Wiz only one that qualifies.

The dude that even invented the term officially got on in 78, so I guess he's not a pioneer either :to:

Who else missed the cut, Melle Mel?

From the documentary I saw, that Whipper guy was Wiz right hand man, who was Caz best friend, so I don't know how he wouldn't qualify so I don't know how he doesn't make your cut. :russell:

Hispanics are so jealous of black Americans. They did not create hiphop, they just rode the wave because a lot of them are in the Bronx. This is NY’s fight though, they love Hispanic people more than they love themselves. NY Haitians be swearing they’re mixed with Dominican :russ:

Non new yorkers have a hard time with this concept. I never knew Puerto Ricans (not Latinos) helping start hip-hop was such a controversial take until the internet.

Yea until I left to go to school I NEVER looked at Puerto Ricans differently from us. Literally my high school crew was me 2 other brothers and Puerto Rican and a Dominican Cat.
