I don't think so. All this fashion show shyt started when Stern was leaving or when he already left.

The Dress Code is from Stern's era. He enforced it, he wanted players to dress professionally and represent the league properly aka don't look urban black. Current commissioner and NBA simply inherited it.

For those who lived it: AI changed the ENTIRE game. Tats, cornrows, baggy clothes, bigger shorts when playing etc. The look of the current day black athlete is 99% inspired by AI. I personally am not a fan of the current dress style - it's not urban Hip-Hop street anymore so how can underprivileged kids really feel connected to these superstars and feel like they could be the next AI? LeBron's tattoos are CLEARLY inspired by AI..
