So right now there are two things occurring in popular culture; with threads relating 2 it.
the defamation of mike tyson and Denzel.
they're 2 iconic figures who also represent being masters of their crafts and peak masculinity on some buck the system shyt.
there are various threads and talking points discrediting that.
Image, legacy, and representation is cultural currency that does hold water.
there is literally a plat thread in the booth RN about pusha T saying OGs didn't respect nas because of the way he dressed. People 35+ are losing their minds in that thread over it.
Thread is still going.
if people don't care then it is what it is. But imagine having literally no people who are universally regarded as cool or something larger than life.
Maybe I'm tripping after all considering most of the replies in here......I like to clown around a lot maybe I should just crack jokes and call both of them phaggots.
I can recognize greatness in specific aspects of a person's life. Great Actor, Great Player, Great Scientist, Great Politician, etc. I do not know Tyson or Washington, I just know what they have done. That being the case, I do not see any reason to place them on a pedestal because they are great at what they do. If I wanted information on Boxing, yes I would pay attention to Tyson's advice on it. If wanted information on acting, then yes I would pay attention to Washington's advice on it. Outside of those aspects of their abilities that they put on display, I see nothing else to concern myself about their lives with.
I think it is better to work to be the man you desire to be. You may take examples of what you see, but never get it twisted. What you see on display by the entertainment class are carefully curated imagery to impress the impressionable. That is also why they have agents to help them maintain, protect, and project the image they desire the world to see.
When it comes to actual examples to follow, I suggest you look closer to home where salt of the earth type of family members and friends exist. Find men to emulate who do what is right and necessary without the need of being paid to do it.
