should have limited it to games that released this year. could be more room for Jagged Alliance 3, Talos 2, System Shock Remake, etc. and calling NMS a "live service game" seems like a stretch

Yeah, that whole narrative really just existed in the heads of people that were specifically looking for it. By all accounts, it seems like a perfectly fine game, especially for people really into the property, but not best game of the year material.
Folks were just looking for shyt to be mad at other people for allegedly being mad at, I guess.
