But yeah... Most blacks in colombia are poor but thats because most of the country is poor and they live in relegated areas because they chose to do so more than 150 years ago when slavery was abolished so that they could start their own communities far away from the central government

Thats why they have not been as involved in politics or the national economy develpment

As an Afro-Colombian that goes to visit at least once a year, I can tell you that's a lie. My mother was born and raised in Colombia and I spent summers there as a kid. Not sure why you think white Colombians are any different than these pasty mufukkers here in the states. It might not be as blatant as it is here, but it's there.

Buenaventura is the main city for Choco province right? Looked at it on Google Maps. What's the infrastructure like as far as Sanitation? Electricity? Roads?

a lot of them stay in Barranquilla and the coastal Colombian cities... apparently in pretty squalid conditions... like most of South America. i dated a girl in college whose mom was from there and she actually lived out there for a year after we graduated.

it's cheap AF to get down there from a lot of East Coast hubs. talking like $400 - $600 RT for anyone feeling adventurous.
