The crocs were individually trying to move between to water sources: and came across a large male lion- after a battle, the lion killed the first crocs and dragged it into the bushes.. a short time later, the lion was again disturbed by a 2nd large croc.. another great battle and that croc was dragged into the bushes.

Another lion then caught the crocodile by the tail, but quickly let go when it thrashed about. All the lions then sat back on their haunches and stared at the crocodile which lay facing them with jaws wide open. In the course of this encounter the the crocodile had contrived to back a good way towards the water's edge, preparing no doubt for a safe and quick retreat. The old male of the pride then lay down with his head on his front paws some three metres from the crocodile.
Both animals lay quite still, for all the world as though trying to stare each other out. This situation lasted for at least half an hour, until finally the crocodile appeared to admit defeat and slowly slipped into the water, to vanish without a ripple beneath

Had the crocodile been able to rush forward, the lion would have been caught, but the broken forearm left the other three feeble limbs unequal to the effort jaws snapped in vain, and the lion leapt G again, raging from the blow, but with his mind cool to the chances time he leapt for the tail-grip, his hind-paws on each side of the jaws, his forepaws gripping the tail on either side, and his fangs biting at the root of the tail in an attempt to crush the spine. And the terrific struggle ceased when the fangs at last snapped through gristle and bone. The spine was pierced, and only the snapping of the jaws and the green fire in the stony eyes told that the ferocious spirit of the creature still flamed unquenched. Ngonyama stood off panting, with his eyes on those snapping jaws, and when his wind came back he hooked his claws under the body, and, tugging hard, turned the crocodile over on its broad and scaly back. The jaws were still snapping when the victor tore with fangs and claws at the unprotected belly ; snapped till the slowly pulsating heart was torn away and gulped down in a single mouthful. With his jaws all bloody and his stomach full

Eyelids of morning: the mingled destinies of crocodiles and
One night two lions prowling about our camp surprised a large croc about eleven
feet long asleep on the shore. After a considerable struggle they killed and ate it
While hunting on the banks of the Rufiji I put up a lion in some long rushes. I found that he had just killed a crocodile about ten feet long. He had evidently jumped on the crocodile's back and had apparently torn out its throat. The lion had started to feed on the firm flesh under the tail. The natives said that they had often known lions to kill crocodiles, but the lion would never eat the body but only the tail.

The horses were obviously the targets in this case and were ambushed by several lions, one springing at the hind ... A crocodile then came out of the water in order to appropriate the remains and was killed by the lions in defence of their
kill.

Evidence of Asiatic lions have killed crocs
Gir Forest and the Saga of the Asiatic Lion
Even a fully satiated lion will not readily relinquish its feast an instead drags it inch by inch up the sand, followed by an equally determined crocodile. In the intense heat and with an uncomfortably distended belly, the lion at first merely swats the crocodile’s snout or snaps at a scaly hind leg. The reptile retaliates, provoking hisses and growls, meaner swats and moreferocious snaps. The confrontation quickly escalates into an awe-inspiring spectacle. In the midst ofthe battle it’s difficult to gauge which of Africa’s two top predators will win, but in the end usually thelion gains the upper hand. Not always, though – one Valley resident reported seeing a single lionessswim out to a dead hippo on a sandbank midstream and climb on top of the carcass. She put up aspirited fight to keep her booty from surrounding crocodiles but they eventually chased her back to shore.
