I applaud my people for standing up but I would also like them to be aware of the land too. Please do not turn into a dirty continent as North America & Eurasia. Africa is one of the last places on Earth that has not become damaged extensively by man.

Well so far the present government is pissing of the international oil companies by giving vast majority of expired oil leases to indigenous firms. The 40 billion dollar leases just awarded really shook some of these firms. Plus Nigeria of today is not as tied down to the western governments and oil majors as 5-10 years ago.
The reason is there has been massive economic growth in sectors like Agriculture, telecommunication, entertainment, retail, banking, tourism, construction and low/middle level manufacturing.
Nigerias economy that was just recently rebased was found to be far less reliant on oil and far more diversified than previously thought. The best part about all of this is that these sectors are dominated by indigenous Nigerian companies. Nigeria of today is not as reliant on oil as past times so we are far from a puppet state at the moment. Of course this doesn't mean Nigerias economy is all perfect and we are out of the woods. At the end of the day 2016-2019 is all that matters. If Nigeria can succeed in nationalizing the soon to be expiring oil wells then things will really begin to look up.
When it comes to thieving politicians, there is alot of money in Nigeria presently. Nigeria is an economy that is worth over 510 Billion dollars. (that is without counting the informal economy) In fact many of our theiving politicians these days choose to reinvest the money back into the country. They are getting into the retail, construction, agricultural sector e.t.c.
So I guess one could say its a great improvement when compared to past times of just stealing and stashing abroad. (I know its pathetic but we have to start somewhere)
plus when it comes to sanctions there is no way the united states and E.U will publicly sanction Nigeria for dealing with china or russia. Its not like Nigeria is doing anything illegal. That would be bad publicity for them. Now funding armed groups behind the scenes to destabilize might not be off the table for them. So nigeria still has to be vigilant.
