I'm smh at the direction this thread has taken with the infighting. First of all to address the first topic. It was one man's opinion that they need their own country and their own space. Something echoed by a few posters here. I do not agree.
One guy said it's because Africans don't follow laws, kill each other and a slew of other things. The incoming diaspora would be wise to in essence quarantine themselves from the rest of the Africans.
Truthfully the problem of violence and lawlessness isn't an African problem but a world problem. I can give examples of happenings in places like Chicago where the mentality and amount of violence happening there and what's the norm would blow the average Africans mind. Will these kids also be part of the people going to Africa? Or is it only the wealthy will come and the rest will be abandoned behind? As much as you are concerned about the mentality of Africans they could also as the host, be even more concerned about the mentality of people who grew up in those eenvironments
Realistically no country is willing to secede a portion of their land to people to form a new nation. What will happen to the people who were indigenous to that area? The people who generations of their family came from there and now they're not allowed back? These people will always be in conflict with the new owners of their land. Your best bet would be to assimilate. Find which country you are comfortable in and move there. Eventually Africa will become as one anyway.
Now the second part I want to address this infighting going on here about Africans vs Haitians vs African Americans. We often have ignorance about where the other is from as well as create artificial differences and hate for one another. Our skin says our genesis is the same.
There is a tendancy for people to want to stick to others from a similar regional back ground because they feel culturally you're the same. A theme echoed by those who want their own land in Africa. A theme practiced by immigrants when they set foot in other countries. Thats why you have china towns and all these other areas where people from one group congregate.
My personal experience. I hang out with people from my country. Some were snakes. Then east africans.. then africans.. then you realise it's not where you from its how you are that's the main thing and find friendships and similarities with people born in other parts of the world.
I had friends who were Mexican, panamanian, Haitian, African American, from trinidad, Jamaica, Ghana, Nigeria, Congo, white, Russians etc . These guys made me feel at home before I went back to my birth home. If they chose to come here I'd be family to them too. Just like if I chose to go to them.
I expect there to be good and bad everywhere. You're living environment will depend on your capabilities. You can find families living a good life stateside, the carribean or Africa. So I feel these generalised bashing we are doing is incorrect. These artificial differences we have, thats causing coli posters to beef with people from other regions, on a complete tangent from the original post are incorrect and need to be examined and wiped out
