Lost Ark Dreaming by Suyi Davies Okungbowa

The brutally engineered class divisions of Snowpiercer meets Rivers Solomon’s The Deep in this high-octane post-climate disaster novella written by Nommo Award-winning author Suyi Davies Okungbowa

Off the coast of West Africa, decades after the dangerous rise of the Atlantic Ocean, the region’s survivors live inside five partially submerged, kilometers-high towers originally created as a playground for the wealthy. Now the towers’ most affluent rule from their lofty perch at the top while the rest are crammed into the dark, fetid floors below sea level.

There are also those who were left for dead in the Atlantic, only to be reawakened by an ancient power, and who seek vengeance on those who offered them up to the waves.

Three lives within the towers are pulled to the fore of this Yekini, an earnest, mid-level rookie analyst; Tuoyo, an undersea mechanic mourning a tremendous loss; and Ngozi, an egotistical bureaucrat from the highest levels of governance. They will need to work together if there is to be any hope of a future that is worth living―for everyone.

A Senegalese Sci-Fi Film

BABA, le Gardien de ObeluS
66f80ffa8466e.jpg

English Translation:
In Obelus, a planet away from the universe, lives a lonely people in a rocky environment degraded by a strange climate change. As the sun sets, a large cloud of smoke engulfs the village and makes it look unbreathable and toxic. What drives the inhabitants of Obelus to lock themselves in their airtight cores before every sunset. For them, the beauty of the night is just a legend.
Baba, a little hunter kid befriends Buju, an old scientific tramp, in a wheelchair. One good day, old Buju, mysteriously disappears leaving Baba a watch, key to a scientific landmark that contains the solution to free Obelus from the hands of the mysterious clan of the "Bison on Fire".
Baba then sets himself up as a mission, with Mbeuw his faithful dog, to fight this power and defend his people.

Clarkesworld Magazine - Science Fiction & Fantasy

What else do you have going on, in the works, or coming up that you’d like readers to know about?

There will be a graphic novel coming from Abrams in due course; a collaboration I’m doing with the brilliant artists Steve Bissette (Saga of the Swamp Thing), and John Jennings (Blue Hand Mojo). The three of us devised the story together, and I wrote the script. It’s called Night Comes Walking, and the genre is horror, based on two historical figures. Writer/sociologist/hoodooist Zora Neale Hurston (Their Eyes Were Watching God) and decorated former military man Eugene Bullard (first African American fighter pilot) go on a road trip to discover who’s using poisonous snakes to launch deadly supernatural attacks on B&Bs along the routes of The Green Book for Negro Travellers. John and Steve, both lovely men, have some seriously creepy imaginations, and it was a blast combining mine with theirs.

Sauuti-Hologram-Labels_sm2.jpg

World Summary/Overview
The Sauútiverse is the first in an exciting new Shared World series that is guaranteed to both entertain readers and introduce them to a new world of science fiction and fantasy by talented African writers. Featuring stories that are set in Sauúti – an Africa-inspired science-fantasy secondary world created by Africans, for the world, Sauúti is like Black Panther meets Wild Cards with all the rich spacefaring worldbuilding of Dune.

The Sauútiverse Shared World contains short stories and novellas set in this fictional civilization based on a blend of African cultural worldviews. The name Sauúti is taken from the word “Sauti” which means “voice” in Swahili. Sauúti, a five-planet system orbiting a binary star, is rooted deeply in a variety of African mythology, language, and culture.

Sauúti weaves in an intricate magic system based on the sounds of oral traditions and music, and includes science-fiction elements of artificial intelligence and space flight, including both humanoid and non-humanoid creatures.

Sauúti is filled with wonder, mystery, and magic.
