The basis of MMA is that anybody can get on, by definition that's why it's popular with CACs, because the sh*t isn't as elite as boxing, football, baseball, etc. A guy who hasn't been boxing since like age 15 (exception of Bernard Hopkins) can't come in and be elite in boxing. He started too late. You got guys from shows like Tanner who come out of nowhere and dominate the league
