Nairaland is a Nigerian forum. So yeah they will naturally be pro black since Nigeria is a black nation.

I can be critical of islam, but the truth of the matter is islam and poverty are being used as a weapon. So making the whole situation a Muslim vs christian issue is dangerous. After all there are muslims living in the south with Christians and traditional believers and they aren't causing any trouble.
The problem with Nigeria is the born to rule mentality the northern elites have. It started from the british. The britsh found them easier to control so the british empowered them and gave them authority over the rest of the tribes in nigeria. A lot of their leaders were trained in british miitary shools as well.
The shyt your seeing now in nigeria is very similar to the rwanda genocide situation. In Rwanda the Belgians gave majority of the power over the nation to the tutsi and subjected the hutus under them. After Independence the hutus began to vie for control and then shyt went south.

A corresponding Nigerian autobiography, My Life by Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna (traditional leader) of Sokoto and first Premier of the Northern Region after independence, also tellingly shows the Sardauna playing English cricket and Eton Fives. The English and Muslim Nigerian upper classes became close.

Working with the Fulani and Hausa Muslim elite, the colonialists instituted a system of "indirect rule" which was cheap and effective. sidenote: another reason for the hostilities between north and south is the slave trade. The northerners were heavaily invested in the slave trade. They would capture southern groups like the igbos and yorobas and and ship them off.(some yoroba and igbo tribes were also part of it especially the Oyo and Aro confederacy due to a civil war) (northerners were also shipped off as well)
but Funny enough it was the british conquering the northern elites (sokoto caliphate and Kano emirate)that put a stop to it.

Later, privately, he pointed out that, once British troops had conquered the northern Muslim forces of the Sokoto Caliphate and Kanem-Bornu Sultanate in 1902-1903 with the laudable objective of terminating their slave trade, the colonial administration and the defeated Fulani Muslim elite found they had much in common. They both had top-down authoritarian views of governance and an ordered elitist view of the world; they saw the many different non-Muslim groups across the north as pagan, uncivilized and inferior.

Yep no doubt. China is looking out for herself. Though again the one thing I like with Nigeria's deals with china is that Nigeria still comes out benefiting. We have been receiving quite a bit of technology transfer. (very important)
