3rd wave of Covid just started hitting a lot of African countries
Stay safe. People I know are dying left and right
:mjcry:

I'm supposed to go to Nigeria in August. My cousin stays in Uganda and last month she was telling me that they are still on lock down. It didn't sound right at the time but now I see why

weak easily overwhelmed health care systems. I know a chick who died of Covid in Kenya and there's been doctors who died from it too.

They can't afford to lose their health care staff.

I never bought into this hype. I'm sure there are some places with political unrest that might be dangerous. But it has NEVER sat right with me how they downplay the sheer size of the second largest continent in the world.

For perspective....

There could be something going down on one side of the continent that would never even be seen all the way on the other side of the continent. But somehow we just got this image emblazoned into our collective consciousness that Africa is just the boogeyman, dangerous land. When Bosnians Wars or whatever the fukk they were doing in Europe happened, nobody applied that conflict to ALL of Europe even tho that continent is tiny in comparison. The world has a real issue with the way Africa is portrayed. Its so stupid.

Something for you to think about.

Do you know how much money you'd make consulting for any countries Ministry of Education?

I had a Math Professor who authored some math books for Tanzania. There's isn't all the red tape and "death by committee" in Africa. white people are making a fortune consulting over there.

I know a lady in TZ who's a guidance counselor at one of the most prestigious boarding schools in TZ, I asked her how was the school she said it was basically on a the level of a mid high school in a middle class district in Louisiana (where she used to teach) The point was people went to the private school to be with "the right people" and it's resourced like an american high school.

You don't have to actually life there to consult.

I have no idea what ya'll talking about, because Africa has been the least hit by COVID. Specially in sub Saharan Africa. According to new scientific research out of Germany. Sub Saharan's are the least at risk when it comes to COVID, due to them being one of the only people on earth with 0% neanderthal DNA. Europeans are most at risk. Explains the low deaths from COVID compared to other regions of the world.

I get what you mean but damn near every country in the Continent was going through a war, minor conflict, genocide/ethnic cleansing or brutal dictatorship crackdowns between the mid-60s to early 2000s, with violence peaking between the early 90s to early 2000s. It wasn't just media exaggeration from the West, political and ethnic violence was endemic in a large number of countries in Africa. It's the equivalent of a Yugoslavia or Ukraine type war in nearly every country in Europe for 40 years.

The article is saying that it is remarkable that these wave of violence almost disappeared from the Continent outside a few pockets in the matter of 20 years. Looking at the trends, I agree wholeheartedly.
