God I would love for Mat wrestling to come back. :mjcry:

It's been a trend in the indies for close to a decade to be honest. At first it was mostly lead by Timothy Thatcher, Drew Gulak and Biff Busik (Orney Lorcan in WWE) in places like EVOLVE and you had people like ZSJ and Tommy End (Malakai Black) trying to do their thing in Europe, later End shifted from that style though.

Then you had younger guys like Daniel Makabe, Fred Yehi do a new, interesting twist to mat wrestling and guys like Gresham showing up and doing their thing. New it seems the new mat based dudes are wrestlers like Daniel García and Lee Moriarty (haven't seen enough to have a solid opinion on them).

The fact is, mat wrestling made it's returning a while a go and it's pretty cool it's getting to more mainstream promotions.

This is beautiful. :mjcry:

Like so many others, I hope this is a G1-style tournament. They have enough damn weekly shows to do it. Would actually give people a reason to watch Dark, Elevation and Rampage.

That's a good point, Dark would be perfect for the preliminaries with the bigger matches up to the final of course on TV

The concept of Dark is dope and "modern" it just doesn't have any people or anything that I'm remotely interested in seeing, this tournament could draw some eyes to it depending on the names

AEW is dropping bomb after bomb
it's strange
they also got AKI, the guys who made WWF NO mercy on their side..
i'm going to start watching AEW a bit more.
and yesterdays WWE RAW wasn't that bad.

it's a great time to be a wrestling fan but then the NBA and NHL starts.. and you got the NFL already making some noise.

the question then becomes, do you watch people play fighting or watch real sports?

I don’t think other sports matter. It’s always been that way. AEW got me back into wrestling. Wednesday will be my first wrestling show (excluding ppv) in full since like 2 years. The hype got me
