PWInsider reports that All Elite Wrestling (AEW) filed a trademark application on August 1 for the term âAll Elite Women.â The trademark application was filed on Monday, August 1 with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
PWInsider noted that the trademark was filed for multiple subjects, including entertainment services and âstreaming of payer-view events material on the internet.â You can see the full descriptions below:
While AEW has not issued any announcements yet, the trademark filing appears to suggest that AEW is looking to start some women-focused events or pay-per-view shows.
They trademarked the term for dozens of things. That's how trademarking works. If they didn't trademark it for something they could potentially use it for in the future, someone else would and then force AEW to pay them to get the rights to it should they want to use it in the future. Or someone would trademark it, use it for something stupid, then force AEW to pay them for the rights so they would stop using it.
It's like back when I was working in college athletics and a new social media thing started popping off. I'd sign up for the official athletic department account on the the website/app and squat on it. I wanted to maintain the same username across all social media for branding purposes, so I'd get in early. I'd either eventually use it (most of the time I wouldn't though) or just squat on it until infinity to prevent someone else from posting stupid shyt under our username. I and I alone was the only person on this entire fukking planet that was going to be posting under @xyzathletics (not the real username of course) on all these social media platforms.
