Actually No Mercy & HCTP had great graphics, you're only shytting on it now because it's 2022 and not 2002

This game would get laughed off Arcadium and anything else gaming related. Only reason it's not here is because wrestling fans would eat actual shyt before turning in their mark badges and swords

"Since when do graphics matter" - these same convos would've taken place in 2003 if NM/HCTP looked like PS1 games. This game looks like an early gen PS4 game and is only $10 off a regular 2022 release. They're charging last gen prices because they know it's a last gen game with bugs
As a Rec Room/Arcadium vet, I must state the obvious: you don't know what the fukk you're talking about.

Def Jam Vendetta and Fight For NY were not graphically superior to most games, but were beloved.

Def Jam Icon had better graphics than those previous games, but was panned and forgotten because of its weak gameplay.

TNA Impact made the 2K games look like shyt:

But the gameplay was ass, so it didn't matter.

I'm not saying the AEW game will be incredible, but I am saying your narrative is false, and that you are either disingenuous or have a faulty memory.

Last I checked the poster specifically talked about HCTP and No Mercy, so that's why I talked about them.

Def Jam Vendetta matched Madden 2004, NBA Street Vol 2 and every other big multiplat in 03. Def Jam Icon is a PS3 game so it naturally has better fidelity than Vendetta. Instead, we have an issue where this game looks like a last gen game. For how bad Icon was, this game can't even do what it did, which is look like a current game.

In an attempt to cape because you think somebody's got a grudge against your favorite lycra & kneepads company, you typed a bunch of shyt that proved my point.
I bet you rolled your sleeves up when you were typing on some "got em :smugbiden:" trip :mjlol:

No they didn't :dead:

No Mercy looked like shyt compared to other PS1 wrestling games at the time.

Here's neckbeards from 2003 complaining about Triple H's model from HCTP

The AEW game looks like shyt graphically too but people always complain about graphics anyways :yeshrug:

Now we're nitpicking individual character models to try and make whatever point, you can literally do that for any game

Listen, besides No Mercy not being a PS1 game, here's the facts:

This game is running an engine that hasn't been updated since WWE themselves used it almost a decade ago

That Booker T meme a few posts up of TNA Impact vs WWE 12, guess who made that model and game...the same team making this one. Actually scratch that, the skeleton of that team and whatever's left of Yukes/THQ is making this game

Instead of being like "Hey, yeah drift you right, the game looks like absolute dog shyt. But I'm still excited because I like AEW and it's got my favorites in it so I'm down" y'all will lie, name call, and pull whatever strawmen you been sitting on out of your ass and hop in folks notifications wasting their time

I'm willing to pass on the graphics, as long as the price is cool and the gameplay is tight.

In in Canada so you must be high as fukk if you think I'm gonna spend $80 on this .

But to be fair. Not many games deserve to be this high a price. I'm looking at you 2k

Even all you “I don’t care about the graphics as long as gameplay is” can’t justifiably look at that footage and believe so. That shyt had some ugly stiff animations with stutters and frame drops everywhere. Why would you even create a trailer with that garbage? And let’s not even get into the digital pachinko crap. That shyt will not translate to a western audience so why even attempt that?

The thing with the graphics is that even though they didn't want to go with a more realistic visual similar to WWE 2K, that still doesn't excuse them from the fact the could add more to the budget to have Yuke's improve more on the overall look because it doesn't make sense that there's indie devs with smaller budgets that can make more visually pleasing graphics/art style. They should know that the visuals is part of a video game presentation.

I won't speak on the gameplay seeing as a lot of y'all grew up with the No Mercy gameplay, while I grew up with the SmackDown/WWE gameplay, so I was hoping for something similar to the latter or more of an Day of Reckoning 2 gameplay approach.

Day of Reckoning itself is based off of No Mercy tho
