Throwing race out of this is impossible.
With that being said, you can use weapons to defend yourself. Should he have stabbed him? IDK. But your point about both of them being athletes doesn't mean anything. If someone put their hand on you in a threatening manner, you have the right to defend yourself by any means.
Also, Karmelo is 5'9 130 pounds, Austin was 6 foot 220 pounds. Unless Karmelo is an experienced fighter, that just asking to be beat on. Austin was also with his brother who was the same size. I can tell you I'm not having a fair fight with people like that.

Self defense with a weapon is a last resort when you cannot get away from the situation.
To have time to reach in his bag to grab a knife then engage in stabbing…,
I mean… unless dude and his brother were already beating him and he needed to stab then to get away I can understand… need more details to come out.
But from the info available, not a single punch or attack was initiated when the stabbing happened. Just two brother aggressively telling dude to leave the tent. They were literally trying to get him to leave… so self defense based on being unable to retreat doesn’t seem unlikely.
Race has nothing to do with it other than white supremacists blowing it out of proportion.

Every time I see this Ross cat name come up it’s either some blatantly racist shyt or coded racist shyt.
The most concerning thing to me seems not to be he himself, but that young brehs don’t view this guy as racist at all. “He’s just trolling”.
I don’t know if it’s just apathy, lack of critical thinking, priceless, or just pure assimilation into yt internet culture/humor amongst our young brehs. But it is definitely odd to see everytime.
And if that is happening to young brehs, I imagine the greenlight for this type of mentality / soft, but blatant racism is for young whites.

NO IT IS NOT. This isn't about how you personally feel. You are not inclined to use your fist over a weapon to defend yourself. I don't know where the hell people keep getting this information. You can use whatever you need to use to defend yourself.
Witnesses say that Austin was trying to push Karmelo out of the tent. That's not something Austin had the right to do. Karmelo grabbed the knife because who knows if Austin was going to continue to try to force him out of the tent. If someone put their hands on you like that, you have no idea what that person is going to do next.
And based on how you keep talking about how race hasn't nothing to do with this, you're either white, a non African American black person, or some type of other. This shyt is deeply ingrained into the history of this country. Will he even get a fair trial? The court of public opinion which is largely white has been calling him a murderer since the story broke. The judge could have racial biases, their jury will almost definitely have racial biases, and public opinion on top of how white people feel about black people already only heightens it. Race is damn near everything in the case.
