something else I left out that I find critical in the metaphorsis is the duality of man.
yo ZULU, don't hold the person above the rhyme, you hold the rhyme above the individual.
what I mean is we are all human. if nas cheats on his wife/or his wife cheat on him, if chuck D is eating something processed, if dead prez have orgies, if talib watches love and hiphop, if KRS does charities for corporatons don't hold that to the rhyme standard.
too many times people put the artist on a pedestal instead of the rhymes. not every action someone takes is a direct contradicton to self. we all are human, no one is perfect.
we all have desires, fantasies, hobbies and different states of mind.
an example would be nas rapping about guns or murder when he has publically and lyrically advocated an end to gun violence. he is 30+ and how he moves through the industry and life is not indictive to how you should move.
the idea is to learn from nas and make sure your rhymes are almost gun-free.
and again ones music is not necessarily an indication to how the person acts on a humanly basis.
one of the hardest things to do is balance integrity with music.
