AB's conditioning/Activity is going to have to be way up.

Manny would be on the Juice and do him 10X worse than Chino Maidana

By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz is saying that WBA World light welterweight champion Adrien Broner (31-2, 23 KOs) is one of the possibilities for Pacquiao’s next fight on April 9th in 2016. Broner, 26, joins the other three fighters that Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank has personally hand-picked for Pacquiao to select from.

Pacquiao was supposed to have announced the name of his next opponent last Friday night during the Top Rank truTV card headlined by Felix Verdejo vs. Josenilson Dos Santos, but Pacquiao opted not to make a decision at that time. Arum is now hoping that Pacquiao will make his decision by the end of December so that he can start marketing the fight.

Broner would be like a proxy to Floyd Mayweather Jr. for Pacquiao. By facing the Mayweather imitator in Broner, Pacquiao would be able to avenge the loss that he suffered to Mayweather earlier this year in May in their “Fight of the Century” in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao vs. Broner would be a huge fight and it would likely bring in very good money to Pacquiao if he could get the fight negotiated.

There’s no rush,” Koncz said to the MB.com.ph. “We are not giving a strict timetable. I can’t tell exactly when because the fight’s in April (anyway).”

It’s thought by some boxing fans that Arum wants Pacquiao to select his Top Rank fighter Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs), because it would be a way for Pacquiao to make Crawford more popular by him beating Pacquiao and then taking over as Top Rank’s new pay-per-view attraction.

The problem is Crawford is not an attraction now, and if Pacquiao selects him, he’ll basically be shooting himself in the foot, because he can arguably make more money fighting other fighters like Broner. There is nothing wrong with Crawford as a fighter.

FYI, in Dan's chat today he addressed this fight. Said that Broner and Koncz have been talking. Koncz however, has no power to make fights. Arum is the financial pocketbook that finances Pacquiao fights. It is Arum who decides and negotiates Pacquaio fights (other than Pacquiao himself). Koncz and Broner can talk all they want, but it doesn't actually have much impact on a fight being made. Right now PBC and TR don't work together so Haymon and Arum's lack of a relationship will cause this fight to not have a chance to get made.

Pacquiao's Adviser Gives Status, Comments on Adrien Broner

By Steve Kim

Manny Pacquiao has yet to make a decision as to who he will be facing in what could be his last ring appearance as a professional prizefigthter. He was scheduled to make this announcement on the night of December 11th but held off on making a decision.

Pacquiao's adviser, Mike Koncz, who just landed back in the United States after spending the past couple of months with the fighter, told BoxingScene.com on Wednesday night - "We're just taking our time, he's been engrossed in the Christmas holidays and he's got a lot of employees, a lot of companies and a lot of commitments he's got to make and we just came back from vacationing in Dubai, Greece and Israel. We got back on the 22nd of November and we've been very busy with the activities in the Philippines he has every Christmas, plus it was just his birthday."

"We're in no rush. Manny and I have sat down and we've discussed what we think is the best option for Manny. Before I head back on the 9th (of January) I will sit down with {Top Rank CEO) Bob (Arum). I think he's flying in Christmas day and meet with him then or the following day. But there won't be an announcement on that day either because I still have a lot of things to hammer out with Bob as to which opponent, purses and some other issues."

Koncz makes it clear which date Pacquiao plans to return.

"We're definitely going to fight on April 9th and more likely than not it will be at the new MGM Grand arena. I already told Bob we'll definitely keep the date, the pay-per-view date because Manny approved that this past week and I told Bob that in a text message. Now we just got to work out the details of the final opponent and that's it.''

Names such as Tim Bradley (who has already faced 'the Pac Man' twice), Amir Khan and Terence Crawford have been mentioned but a new name recently emerged, WBA junior welterweight champion Adrien Broner, who reportedly received a call from Koncz personally.

"I wish Adrien would not have made the comments he did to the media prematurely. But yes I did personally call him, spoke with him and we discussed the possibility of him facing Manny," confirmed Koncz.
