Doesnt matter. Theres a larger principle at stake
My post was asking you to think deeper than a principle, there is no reality where unwanted consequences do not exist especially when these consequences lead to other unrelated people getting caught in the crossfire.

Whelp, eventually the NBA will have to end their relationship with China over this. And hundreds of people (who aren't NBA players) will lose their jobs.
We have to have freedom of speech and now everyone is afraid to say anything that might offend China. That just can't be.
All over a tweet that didn't benefit anyone. No ones admitting it, but I'm guessing most of the league is furious at Morey right now.
No doubt about it. All the owners, coaches, players, employees, etc more than likely all hate his guts. A dude on NBA Sirus XM said each franchise could possibly lose $200-400 million value off this shyt. Bron was actually speaking for the entire league(what they're actually thinking behind closed doors) when he made that statement a few days ago. I don't wish no ill will towards Morey but this is the type of shyt people can get merked for. Low key behind doors the league wants to rid themselves of Morey

One more time.

Apparently Morey feels his life is in danger on American soil.

Why the fukk wouldn’t the players be in danger in China?

China got more reach in America than in China?

Please explain the logic to me

Because the players weren’t the ones that said anything:gucci:

China was trying to paint themselves as having a moral upper hand against the situation in HK, there's no way they would continue to have that if they take random un-involved hostages.

Please listen to this before responding in this thread again. This was a Lakers beat reporter who was actually there.

  • When Morey tweeted what he tweeted, no one was in China, if it was going to be so unsafe they had the opportunity to not go.
  • The cancellation of events was done by the Chinese government to make sure the NBA players didn't say anything else detrimental during a red carpet appearance and the games could go on as scheduled, not because of safety issues.
  • Only Rockets logos and posters are being taken down, all other teams logos left up; only Rockets broadcasts are being banned, all other teams are continuing on; Rockets message board in China taken down, all other teams message boards are left up

Morey is the one who said the thing, he is the one getting death threats from Chinese bots or what not and those must be taken as credible as a precautionary measure.

It’ll never happen but it’d be interesting to see the NBA give a full on fukk China stance and turn the league into a hardcore patriotic league.

There isnt any deeper to think.
If you value freedom of speech and democracy in general you have to understand that you cant make an omelet without breaking some eggs.

Sure there are levels to this. Everyone doesnt scream anything they want consequence-free.

I just think people tend to value certain freedoms only when it affects them directly.

For example...let's suppose someone condemned apartheid in South Africa and that directly affected certain American business interests...

I think you see where this is going....hypothetically...

But everyone has to choose a side.

He should have just been fired

He tweeted the shyt when he was in Tokyo while Lebron, Harden, and Curry the biggest stars in the league were in China where they could’ve been kidnapped and at worst killed
None of them were in China, lol

Fcuk you talking about? President Ronald Reagan and his UK sidekick Margaret Thatcher were best of friends with the South African Apartheid regime.

So China would risk starting a war by killing Morey in America?

and none of your bullet points are true.

The shyt went down literally while the players were on the plane to get there. A lakers player learned he’d lost a million dollar endorsement while in the air.

I never said events were canceled for safety issues.

All games were taken off tv, not just rockets games.

This down not just affect the rockets and their players. That’s some BS you made up.

I'm not sure you got my point
The point is dum dum, that America has always put money and profit over "values."

In this regard, I respect Lebron James for pointing out the hypocrisy of White America.

Morey is speaking as a representative of a company as well as a free citizen. That is my point. The eggs Morey is cracking isn't helping the people of Hong Kong (he quickly back tracked that shyt anyway) and is hurting people who want nothing to do with this (as is their right) as they probably have no clue about it. It's not just the consequences. A responsible person with a voice has to have viable way to act on his words.

Also, simply put America does not rule the world. There are differing world views. China has good historical reason to reject any political theory coming from a western white government. :yeshrug:

Juan Roberto's bald spot
India here we come! :banderas:
India is run by a fascist literally ethnic cleansing his fellow countrymen who just happen to be Muslim and they're yet to become the economic muscle China is.
China just throwing its weight around like it learnt from the master Murica with its love of sanctions and newly minted tariffs.
Freedom of speech and democracy are lovely western concepts but that's all they're. some people may not much care for them and may be in a position to not give a fukk how Murica feels about it.
It's a small yet diverse world my western brother and if it takes LeBron juelzing for people to know this...:yeshrug:
