On paper it made sense (if you knew the Nets were going to major move)
Who knew Dennis would be out here getting Covid and Trez be completely irrelevant by the time of the playoffs.
I mean the Lakers were the 2 seed with AD looking rusty as hell before the injuries.
I think guaranteeing Dennis and Drummond starting jobs hurt more than anything.
Trez being irrelevant by the playoffs was the most predictable outcome of the year. He neither spaces nor defends, unless you set him next to some 3-and-D center then he's a big liability.
Maybe they thought Dennis was the best value they could get for Danny Green and wanted someone who could create his own shot to rest Bron....but starting another poor shooter on a team that desperately needed shooting was a bad decision. As well as starting a point guard who makes....bad decisions.
Both cases were "good deals" in terms of what they spent on them, but that made it feel like they were just chasing the greatest value they could get for what they had rather than picking good fits. Made more sense as trade bait to flip for a shooter and a defender rather than as guys that you would keep next to AD/Bron.
