lemme clarify a few things here. when yara says "black people" she really means black females, but in no way is anybody ever allowed to put things that way when filing a public complaint or criticism about sistas exclusively. "chosen to represent you"... "i'm not in a ton of movies or tv shows (re: not taking mad jobs from non-admixture black actresses)"..."microaggressions make you feel like you're never enough".... And the most telling? "No one looks at me and says that a young Iranian girl.." last sentence shows she's irritated that sistas claim she has this privilege based on her father's ethnicity yet no one looks at yara and sees her as being part of his racial group. they see a light brown black female with softer textured hair who could be kin to 100% black phylicia rashad

she really addresses all the things black women complain about. that biracial "sistas" are replacing black women in the media as symbols of beauty which says to young black girls everywhere that they aren't truly beautiful unless they're mixed with something. nikkas ain't sending shots at her lol, nah it's them. and we also ain't sending shots at drizzy drake, j cole, trevor noah, kyle kuzma or any biracial nikka no matter how much p*ssy he gets. talmbout how unfair it is all damn day. we keep our heads down and are masters of staunch self confidence and self promotion no matter what anybody has to say about dark skin, wide noses and nappy hair. sistas need to follow suit at some point. it's annoying b. and this is coming from a nikka who doesn't worship at the altar of the octoroon, quadroon, redbone or high yella bytch. i'd kick mya harrison in the neck to get at yaya decosta but i call it how i see it bro

I don't know what she is or what to call her... But, I know what race she isn't.

:lolbron:

I'm telling y'all, a lot of the biracial (half-Black) people that I've met don't identify as being Black. They're claiming their mixed heritage, which I don't really have a problem with.

:yeshrug:
I don't know where you live, but it's 50/50 around my way. Maybe even 55/45. Most mixed ppl claim their black side.

She's not lying. The boy son on Black-ish is light skinned, not her. Tracey Ellis Ross is light skinned, not her. She's just medium toned/caramel

She needs to worry about filling out. Pretty girl but she looks malnourished :picard:

This really ain’t true depending on who you put her up against she can be light skin.

Men started hate drake on here when he became plastered everywhere. BM were getting “in their feelings” that he is Canadian Jew and jumps on trends.

BM are no different than BW, I seen my fair share of men complaining about light skinned men creeping in sports and entertainment to know that when black men will start getting the dark skinned women treatment that whole we are just confident ish would be thrown out the window.

You guys are no more confident than BW y’all are gassed because of the way BM have been more showcased as a sex symbol in the last decade. Keep that same energy when Drake types become the black male standard.

It isn’t her skin complexion, it’s the fact that she is mixed race. I am glad BW are pushing back and wanting to see black women and not solely mixed race women. Mixed girls need to start owning that they are mixed just like their male counterparts own up that they are mixed and fall back when dark skinned bm occupy certain spaces or say certain things. Mixed race women occupy too much space within the BW collective and their mixed race tears are just getting annoying at this point and endulged more times than they should. That’s why they expect black people to always bend over backwards because they so used to being handled with kid gloves :ufdup:I am looking at you Ayesha.

I don’t care if some BM call BW jealous or bitter or lacking confidence it’s a deflection tactic. Many are fully aware of the ish and don’t care until it’s start affecting them.

Yara is a cute girl and I like how she is styled but she is still half black and half Persian to me color notwithstanding and fall in the same category of “ideal black girl” the media has been pushing aggressively in the last decade. Next...:ld:

Oh she addresses black people because she is hoping that her captain save a mixed chick will come bat for her and double down on black people calling us bitter/jealous/ ugly.

To me, she's light skinned. But when you contrast her skintone to someone as light as her male co-star to her right, then she clearly looks brown skinned. Thats why what's considered "light" "brown" or "dark" varies so much among black ppl.

I’m from the UK so things are different.

But growing up we didn’t call mixed race people ‘light skin’. Mixed race being white and black. That real high yellow complexion of Sade or even a Chris Brown.

So our perception of light skin black people was a bit darker. Will Smith. Like we would’ve considered Jay Z light skin or close.

Brown skin more like Nas.

But now we consider bi racial people black and light skin so that distorts what is light skin
