I think the consensus has changed a lot over the years, now you have to be chris brown or drake status to be considered light skinned where as before it was a more broad category.
I'm will smith complexion and was always considered light skinned (hell even biracial at times) when i was growing up but i think my tone is just considered brown skinned by todays standards

Carlton is dark
Ashley is dark
Hillary light

This makes no sense because one Complexion doesn’t define us as a people.
Also yara is the same complexion as many full black women. She ain’t a brittany renner type.

She's right. She is literally the same color as Ciara, Sanaa Lathan, Will Smith and Nicki Minaj. Its rare that anyone ever calls these celebs light skinned. Yet they are the same shade as Yara. The real issue is that Yara is biracial, not her skin tone.
