Yella and Dre was both part of the world class wrecking cru and he was one of the founders of the group. Plus Michael Ealy has a good relationship with Cube Vision since they helped him get his big break, and he also hinted at the role in that interview with Taraji

jokes aside im sure in nwa yella was a important part of the puzzle just like everyone in a group but to rap fans he's useless you know that:dafuq:

even if micheal ealy takes the role will people be saying "micheal ealy played the shyt out of dj yella"

i think not but if he just wants to be part of cool it would be a regressive role career wise imo..
hopefully if done right this can be a great and possibly classic movie.
