My guy, the individual (Tyler Perry) spearheading a bid to acquire a billion dollar asset doesn't need to have assets worth that money him or herself to do it.

I know this is business talk and probably not in your field, but these kinds of deals are group funded through financial institutions, individual investors and consortiums where each entity has a stake.

So when it says "Tyler Perry" or "Byron Allen" is looking to buy BET and VH1, it doesn't literally mean "Tyler Perry digs into his bank account and remortgages his house to buy BET"

5-10 years in TV time is like 25years in realtime and Amazon/Apple dont have that long to decide to diversify their content.
Indie productions are finding better/cheaper alternatives to post their content and indie streaming platforms are getting more powerful/accessible everyday.

I could see Tyler reimagine the channels where BET is for the low hanging ratchet content, VH1 being repurposed for reality shows and becoming a black version of TVLand (good times, sanford and son, different strokes, whats happening, etc) then perhaps buying TV One to be the land of Tyler Perry produced content.

Yo- I would love if a black version of TCM channel came out. - I could see Robert Johnson doing this actually or at least putting a person into position to make this happen - cuz Bob is getting old and I think AMC would bankroll that idea.
