over this but fukk it
When this gimmick started no way in hell did we think it would get this far or this over or that the company would even view them like this.
We have already seen with the Monday Night Wars, the whole Women Revolution they will rewrite history for how they see fit.
There rewriting history for 3 black superstars to make them be looked at as the greatest tag team in WWE history.

For me, it's not so much I don't see the prestige of going down as one of the GOAT tag team. shyt, I think even without WWE padding the numbers, New Day was already building a strong case for that. It's definitely dope to think a whole generation of young marks is going to look back at Kofi, Woods, and E with the same reverence me and my friends look back at the Hardys and the Dudleys.
But I also can't ignore the fact that they can do more. It's like Edge and Christian. E&C are my favorite team from the Attitude era, and are generally regarded as one of the best ever. But even when they were tearing it up in the tag division, it eventually became obvious to everyone that they had the potential to do more than just that. And sure enough, when they got their opportunities in the main event, they lived up to those expectations. Granted, one of them had to leave WWE to do it (damn, Vince did my man Christian dirty), but overall, I don't think anyone would argue they'd have been better off as career tag team cats.
A lot of people see the same potential in The New Day. They all have a good look. They can all work the mic. They can all get it done in the ring. They all have major crossover appeal (especially Woods, who, of his own accord, has exposed WWE talent to new audiences through his youtube channel). They've been one of the highest and most consistent merch sellers for a couple years now. Like, the nikkas have
their own cereal, just off the strength of getting it over with the crowd through promos.
WWE has treated the Shield very well, and New Day is very bit as good as Roman, Dean, and Seth. And they're damn sure better than 3MB, which now boasts a WWE Champion in Jinder Mahaal. Again, not knocking the prestige of being a great tag team, and I do understand the anxiety about breaking them up given just how successful and marketable they are as a group. (Though, I don't think you really
have to split them up for one of them to be champ) That said, I think it would be a shame to never see where they can go beyond the tag division.
