Update coming soon. Walked outside to a huge stack of Amazon packages, always a good feeling. Cleaning up the kitchen, got some goodies to show everyone who follows the log.

i beginn mma/kickboxing training on monday, any beginner tips?

Tell me more about what you're trying to get out of it. Do you want to compete? Do you see yourself competing? Why or why not? What goals have you set for yourself? Why are doing it? What will keep you showing up everyday?

100 days remaining for Phase I

Apologies for not updating sooner.

Here is some of the new stuff I was hyping up.

Meal Prep Containers

Slow Cooker/Rice Cooker
Finally ordered a crock pot and dedicated rice cooker and I could not be happier with these two purchases. Plan on using the grill for salmon and chicken wings and using the slow cooker for pretty much everything else (chicken and beef, mostly chicken) this summer.

Short Grain Rice
Great purchase.

Again, pretty much everything is planned out using spreadsheets, calendars, and word docs.

Meals for the next ten days...

- Raising the fat content a bit
- Adding a fasting day (in preparation for Ramadan, and because I like the feeling of fasting on a rest day)

You still at it breh?

Timely.
I actually logged on to get your take on the ODB/Lena Dunham situation and noticed this.

Short answer, yes. I'm in phase 3 (130 days left) and staying on top of workouts, so I'm following through on a lot of the preparation and on a lot of my initial goals.

Long answer--and you might appreciate the reasons why more than most--who knows?

I had the chance to work in and around Cambridge, MA for two weeks and it was at times both frightening and completely exposing. I hung around the Charles Hotel and the Kennedy School of Government. I kicked it tough with Harvard Law students, MIT students, and Tufts students. I paid attention, studied their pedigree, their makeup. I couldn't still my mind.

One day (a few days into the trip), after crossing the bridge separating Boston and Cambridge, I immediately broke into tears. Full-on breakdown, had to pull into some random spot and compose myself.

What left me frightened is that I did not feel overwhelmed or out of place in any way, just the opposite.

I've recently had all of these people in my ear about school and this experienced really amplified their words. It's this nagging feeling that I've tried to ignore and knock down. Only, the more I run away from it, the more intense it becomes.

But again, I'm still at it. I will post some food prep photos up soon. Got chicken, steak, and rice "coming out of my ears man."

125 days remaining of Phase III

Been listening to a lot of David Foster Wallace conversations lately. Dude was a competitive junior tennis player and during one of his interviews he made a brief aside about serious athletic training. He talked about the difference between three hours of training (amateur) and twelve hours of training (professional). He talked about the difference in structure; you know, proper sleep, proper nutrition, proper mental habits day in and day out.

Then one of the youngins, DJ, talked about how he was only home two days out of the summer, trying to achieve this basketball goal. I didn't even talk, just listened, he was teaching me.

Made me really reflect on how serious I am about this and how much I'm willing to sacrifice. How serious has my planning been? Where can I improve? How serious have my workouts been? Am I gauging my progress? How? Am I making the progress I can/should be making in the kitchen and in the gym?

...and so on.

Any goal I have requires tremendous sacrifice. I've accepted this and I'm leveling up.

@Walt But how in the fukk does one understand their path?

Got a lot of anxiety this week, all kinds of outsiders killing my energy, leeching and using it for their own gratification.
