0 hype at all breh, and I don't understand it:snoop:

1 press conference (where Khabib Allakhverdiev didn't even attend and AB only said 1 word...nikka) and 0 else in the media:dead:
Maybe that is a good thing. Broner is at that crossroads moment to me. He was a talented and hyped fighter, nearly reached the expectation, but fell short and slid down the mountain - largely of his own doing. Time to climb back up, this time people won't do it for you, he has to do it himself and earn it. :manny:

Pedraza Looking To Steal The Show With Cherry

Posted by: Random Hits on 10/1/2015 .

Cincinnati, OH - This Saturday night, live on Showtime®, undefeated Puerto Rican star Jose "The Sniper" Pedraza (20-0, 12KO's) makes the first defense of his IBF junior lightweight world championship when he defends his crown against dangerous, former world-title challenger and IBF #14-rated Edner "Cherry Bomb" Cherry (34-6-2, 19KO's). The championship matchup will be the lead supporting bout to Adrien Broner's battle against Khabib Allakhverdiev for the vacant WBA world super lightweight title. Showtime will begin live coverage starting at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

The 2008 Olympian Pedraza won the belt in June with a near shutout decision over once-beaten and tough-as-nails contender Andrey Klimov. Pedraza had his way with Klimov from the outset, controlling the action with his superior boxing ability and speed, switching between orthodox and southpaw, and at times stalking Klimov down, showing his willingness to go toe-to-toe. It was a near flawless performance for the 26-year-old, who won by scores of 120-108, 120-108, and 119-109, fulfilling a lifelong dream, and cementing himself as the leading candidate to become the island country of Puerto Rico's next superstar. Pedraza will be looking to steal the show this Saturday when he takes on the dangerous and longtime contender Cherry.

"We train hard all the time, we are in great shape and we prepare for every fight like the opponent is the champion," said Pedraza. "Edner Cherry is a very experienced fighter. He is a strong guy and good puncher. I am in great shape and I'm ready to fight 12 rounds. This could very well be the toughest fight of my career. He hasn't lost in seven years, but we are very prepared, studied the fight well and are ready to go come Saturday. My youth will play a huge part in this fight. I'm much younger than him and, without a doubt, I will win this fight. I can't wait for the fans to watch this fight and if they can't be here than I hope they watch on Showtime. It will be a great fight."

"Jose Pedraza is one of the most exciting young champions in all of boxing and a successor to the great Puerto Rican champions that preceded him. On Saturday, he'll have a chance to prove himself against very tough contender Edner Cherry in what should be a barnburner," said co-promoter Lou DiBella.

"Working with Jose and his team has been spectacular since day one and having Al Haymon working with us to further build his career has been a blessing. There is no limit to what Jose can do in this sport. Edner Cherry is a very dangerous competitor who will be bringing it all night long. We are confident in Jose's ability though and know he will once again put on a spectacular performance come Saturday night," said co-promoter Javier Bustillo.

"I truly believe that Jose will be a multi-divisional champion and go down as one of the best fighters to ever come out of Puerto Rico," said co-promoter Gary Shaw.

The 33-year-old Cherry hasn't lost a bout since 2008, when he dropped a decision to then-WBC super lightweight world champion Timothy Bradley. After the defeat to Bradley, Cherry dropped down in weight and got himself back into title contention, reeling off 10 victories, including seven inside the distance.

The bout between Pedraza and Cherry is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, Universal Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions. The event is promoted by Warriors Boxing and About Billions Promotions.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Warriors Boxing and About Billions Promotions, are priced at $154, $104, $79, $54, and $29 and are on sale NOW. Tickets are available at the U.S. Bank Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets including select Kroger stores, call 1-800-745-3000, or online at Ticketmaster.com.

Khabib: Broner Scared, His Friends Will See Him Lose!

Khabib Allakhverdiev and his team knew what they were getting into long before fight week. Adrien Broner has long been recognized as a fighter who craves the spotlight, settling for being the loudest voice in the room whether or not his actions in the ring justify such attention.

Sure enough it played out that way during the final pre-fight conference on Thursday ahead of the vacant super lightweight title fight between Broner and Allakhverdiev this weekend. The session was held in the lobby of the US Bank Arena in Broner’s hometown of Cincinnati, where the fight takes place on Saturday evening, airing live on Showtime.

Both fighters are coming off of losses in the previous respective ring appearance. Broner (30-2, 22KOs) dropped a 12-round decision to Shawn Porter in their catchweight bout in June, while Allakhverdiev (19-1, 9KOs) came up just short in a title-losing effort to Jessie Vargas last April.

The reign ended Allakhverdiev’s 140 lb. title reign after a 17-month stay. It’s been one month longer than that since his last ring appearance, although he was as calm as an assassin upon arriving at US Bank Arena on Thursday. He and his promoter Vlad Hyrunov joined the rest of the cast in arriving to the session on time, in their chairs on stage shortly before event promoter Leon Margules kicked off the festivities.

Broner strolled in roughly 10 minutes into the media event, deliberately arriving a few minutes late despite being in the building the entire time. As the former three-division champion literally danced and sang his way to his seat, Allakhverdiev stared straight ahead. The former 140 lb. titlist from Russia bore a stone-face look, slumped back in his chair, disinterested in the way things were being handled although he didn’t have much to say about it or his opponent when it was his turn at the mic.

“I don’t talk too much,” Allakhverdiev said to the assembled media (and entourage members) on hand. “I am ready to fight Saturday.”

His team was more direct when it came to questioning Broner’s antics and the effect it may or may not have on the public.

“Let me tell you this,” Vlad Hryunov, Allakhverdiev’s promoter said while leaning over towards Broner. “Why are you late to your own press conference? This event is still not (sold) out, but you are a star?”

Throwing that little bit of shade, Hyrunov then decided to do his part to help sell the event.

“Everybody, welcome to the best fight ever seen in this city, between Adrien Broner and Khabib Allakhverdiev.”

That bit of unnecessary hyperbole aside, Allakhverdiev remains hell bent on sending the local fans home very disappointed.

"This is his hometown; it's his last chance for a world title and he shows up late and makes it look like he's joking around with everybody and doesn't care,” Allakhverdiev said to BoxingScene.com and a small group of local promoters, adding a few more thoughts before exiting the site in disgust. “I've seen fighters do this before and it's because he is scared.

"For me, this (is) just another fight and just another win and that's what it will be (on Saturday night) - a win for me over this nervous clown. I am going to beat him in front of all his friends."

Cherry Vows To Detonate The 'Cherry Bomb' on Pedraza

There are a few themes that come with Saturday's Showtime-televised card at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. The headliner pits Adrien Broner and Khabib Allakhverdiev - two fighters both coming off of losses - in a vacant 140 lb. title fight.

Allakhverdiev's loss - the first and only of his career to date - came 18 months ago, conceding his title to Jessie Vargas over 12-hard fought rounds.

Broner's latest setback took place in June, dropping a decision to Shawn Porter in their catchweight bout in Las Vegas. His lone other defeat came in Dec. '13, when Marcos Maidana violently snatched his welterweight title via 12-round decision.

Despite the high profile nature that came with both losses, Broner can hang his hat on the fact that he's unbeaten at 140 lbs. and below, with Saturday's bout taking place at the super lightweight limit. It's a stat to which co-feature player Edner "Cherry Bomb" Cherry can relate, as he prepares for his challenge of unbeaten 130 lb. titlist Jose Pedraza.

The 33-year old Cherry (34-6-2, 19KOs) - a Bahamian boxer based out of Florida - prides himself on being at his very best at 130 lbs., while being brave enough to venture into other weight divisions where all six career losses have taken place. He is 0-2 lifetime in title fights and sanctioned eliminators, dropping a 12-round nod to Ricky Quiles in their Feb. '05 final lightweight eliminator, and also came up short in his lone title bid versus then-unbeaten 140 lb. champ Tim Bradley in Sept. '08.

An 11-fight unbeaten streak has followed the loss to Bradley more than seven years ago, including two straight knockout wins heading into his showdown with Pedraza (20-0, 12KOs).

"Pedraza is for real, but I'm sure his team saw an easy mark when my name was mentioned," Cherry told BoxingScene.com during a recent interview. "Fighters see my past losses, how long I've been in the game and they think I'm ripe for the picking.

"What everyone forgets is that I'm fighting at my natural weight. I'm at my best at 130 lbs. and will show it on Saturday night."

It showed in his 9th round knockout of Luis Cruz this past July. The fight was one where Cruz perhaps thought he was getting a known name and means to get back into the win column.

Instead, he saw a veteran boxer who continues to improve and offers proof that losses don't always mean you lose.

"The fights with Bradley and (Paul) Malignaggi, those were necessary steps in my career," Cherry notes. "I thought I could win those fights and took that risk. But they've turned me into the fighter that I am today.

"I'm feeling good, and at a weight that gives me the best chance to win a world title. I can't wait for Saturday night, for the Cherry Bomb to detonate ."
